Kia revealed the new Kia Niro EV for the first time at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show. The new Niro facilitates the brand's another step towards a more sustainable future. This new model from Kia not only features a refreshed exterior design but in addition to this, also features innovative interior features and sustainable materials. The Korean carmaker shared that the new Niro is a completely redesigned product and has been developed under the company's Opposites United design philosophy, fulfilling Joy for Reason ethos. The design of the car takes inspiration from nature in design and the choice of colour, material, and finish to strike a perfect balance between an environmentally responsible approach and a future-oriented outlook. The car boasts a stylish and bold crossover looks and high-tech two tone body. The wide pillar at the rear enhances air flow to improve aerodynamics and blends into the boomerang-shaped rear taillights. The car also features a new Kia signature 'tiger face' in addition to a rugged fender below. The front design is complemented by sticking heartbeat LED DRL.

At the rear, the car gets unique vertical taillight design highlights that help in further improving the aerodynamics and technology. It also boasts a bold stance with strong shoulders and upright windows. In all, the car boasts an highly aerodynamic design that incorporated sustainable materials. The brand has also introduced the Greenzone Drive Mode that automatically transfers the PHEV into EV drive mode when driving in green zones such as residential areas of nearby schools and hospitals. It also recognizes a driver's favourite place, including home and office registered in the navigation system as the green zone.
move inside the car and you will notice a completely new dashboard layout with recycled materials that shows the brand's commitment to sustainability and an indication of future model development. The seats in the car are made from Bio PU with tencel from eucalyptus leave and BTX free paint used on the door panels to minimise the impact on the environment and reduce waste. The off-centre dash curves around the front occupants with horizontal and diagonal lines opposing each other create a calming, yet irregular aesthetic. The centre console too is now styling and features an electronic dial-type gear shifter. Subtle use of gloss black surfaces complements the look and the car also gets ambient lights. The car will be available with HEV, PHEV, and EV powertrains starting from next year in the international markets. In India, the Kia Niro is expected to be launched in 2023.
