The next-gen 3 Series will be entering its eighth-generation, and this model will be radically different from its predecessor in terms of design. It will debut the Vision Neue Klasse design language shown in 2023, and as such, it will feature a new interpretation of the trademark BMW kidney grille, along with slimmer headlamps, tail lamps, and flush-fitting door handles.

The model caught testing had quad exhaust pipes, which is an indication that this could be the M340i, possibly with a new 3.0-litre six-cylinder powertrain. A closer look at the pictures will show a generous amount of body-roll. This could mean BMW will likely make the chassis softer for a focus on comfort, similar to what it has done on the current 5 Series. It will be interesting to see how the new 3 Series retains typical BMW driving dynamics while also ensuring better comfort.

While not much is known about exactly what powertrains will be on offer, the new 3 Series will be offered with a mix of petrol, diesel, hybrid and EV powertrain options. It is possible that the current set of 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol and diesel powertrains will be carried over, but in a heavily revamped guise.

As for the electric, this will be the first time that an all-electric 3 Series will be on offer, and it is likely that BMW will use different platforms for the combustion and electric powertrains. It will be interesting to see what name will the electric 3 Series be known by, considering the i3 name has been used a long time ago.
