Next-Gen Hyundai Creta Coming In 2027; Strong Hybrid On Cards!

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • New-gen Hyundai Creta launch by 2027
  • Likely to bring in a stong hybrid mill
  • Existing powertrain options to continue including the diesel engine

Hyundai Creta is to the mid-size SUV segment what Honda City was once to the midsize sedan space, which means almost synonymous with each other! The Creta has a very special and cemented place in the market and while it continues to evolve and clock in the highest sales number in its class, the next-generation model is already in the works and most probably be coming to the showrooms by 2027 as per the latest reports. While the hybrid remains one of its top speculations, read on to find out what more it could offer at its launch. Third-Gen Hyundai Creta To Launch By 2027

The wait for the next-generation Hyundai Creta is on, with some really exciting possibilities on the horizon. A strong contender is a hybrid powertrain, which could finally mark Hyundai's entry into the hybrid SUV segment in India. This advanced powertrain, likely combining a 1.5-liter petrol engine with an electric motor, is expected to follow the launch of the Hyundai Ni1i, a mid-size SUV positioned between the Alcazar and Tucson. This is also a high possibility as the Kia Seltos hybrid is also in its test phase, which has a lot in common with the Hyundai Creta. Beyond a refreshed design, the third-generation Creta is likely to boast an expanded features list and an enhanced safety suite, ensuring it maintains its position as a leader in the segment and aligns seamlessly with the brand's evolving design and technology philosophy.

Hyundai Creta Facelift

While more details on the third-generation Creta remain shrouded in secrecy, Hyundai's Tamil Nadu plant is gearing up to produce a new midsize SUV, codenamed SX3, which is almost certainly, the second-gen Creta's successor. The current model's powertrain options will likely carry over, including the 115hp, 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol, the 160hp, 1.5-liter direct-injection turbo-petrol, and the 116hp, 1.5-liter diesel engine, paired with either a manual or automatic transmission.

Creta EV Facelift To Follow Third-Gen's Footsteps

In line with Creta's next-generation model in the ICE guise, the Hyundai Creta EV will be refreshed as well. While it just made its debut in India last month, the electric version's update will be limited to just the design refresh both inside out and feature add-ons. The battery, performance, and range numbers are expected to be retained in their original form. Although I would love to see them getting a bump up as well, and if not anything else, Hyundai could squeeze in some extra miles to make it an even more tasteful choice.

Verdict

The Hyundai Creta is one of the top-selling cars in India and also for the brand (after Exter, ofcourse!) and the South Korean marquee would like to keep it like that for however long it can. This also means continually evolving the SUV and that's exactly what they've been doing. If the next refresh could bring in a hybrid powertrain, it will be a much better counter to the heat that it faces from the Maruti Grand Vitara, which is a close second in the sales chart.
