Nissan Magnite

This sub-compact SUV's 1.0L engines have both become E20 compliant now. In international markets, it is selling well, with around 50,000 units exported so far. That said, do you know the meaning of becoming E20 compliant? If this term is new to you, let me explain. At India Energy Week 2023, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the E20 pilot, which is a 20% ethanol blend in petrol, aimed at reducing the carbon emissions of this fuel.
Ethanol (C2H5OH) is made by fermenting sugarcane, corn, and other biomass and contains more oxygen than petrol. Using it in petrol is another step towards gradually reducing dependency on this non-renewable resource.

Let's drift away from E20 and talk about the Magnite. It starts at Rs 6.12 lakh, while the top trim costs Rs 11.72 lakh (ex-showroom). It is available with a 1.0L NA petrol 3-cylinder engine and a 1.0L turbo petrol 3-cylinder engine, along with three transmission options - 5MT and 5AMT with the naturally aspirated engine, and 5MT and CVT with the turbo engine. Talking about power figures, the first engine produces 72 PS and 96 Nm of torque, while the turbo engine delivers 100 PS and 160 Nm of torque.

Features in the Nissan Magnite include an all-LED setup, a premium i-Key with lock-away, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a full leather instrument panel with door trims, an auto IRVM, a 360-degree parking camera, an 8-inch infotainment display, and ambient lighting. From a competition standpoint, it offers some segment-first features and drives pretty well, especially with the turbo engine.
