In a recent development, Ola Electric has revealed that the Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 scooter has received the PLI (Production Linked Incentive) certification from the International Center for Automotive Technology or ICAT. Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 Gets PLI Certification
Ola recently revealed a significant achievement for its Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 electric scooter. The International Center for Automotive Technology (ICAT) gave it the coveted Production Linked Incentive (PLI) certificate. This recognition was earned due to Olas impressive accomplishment of achieving over 50% localization in the S1 Pro Gen 2 scooter. Notably, this marks the second Ola electric scooter to receive such an honor, with the S1 Air being the first.
The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme aims to bolster local manufacturing of electric vehicle components, reducing reliance on imports and fostering economic growth. Additionally, it generates employment opportunities. Furthermore, the cost of EV components is expected to decrease, enhancing overall cost competitiveness.As part of the PLI certification, Ola is now eligible for incentives over a five-year period, starting from FY24. These incentives will range from 13% to 18% of the Determined Sales Value (DSV) of their scooters.

Ola S1 Pro Gen 2 Details
The second iteration of the model features an upgraded motor, delivering 11kW at its peak, surpassing the first generation's 8.5kW. As a result, it accelerates from 0 to 40kmph in just 2.6 seconds, slightly quicker than the Gen 1's 2.9 seconds. Its maximum speed has also been raised to 120kmph, compared to the previous 116kmph.
Regarding its hardware, the Gen 2 adopts traditional telescopic front forks instead of the single-sided variant of the Gen 1. The swingarm has undergone a redesign, and the chassis now utilizes sheet metal. Additionally, it introduces advanced Hypercharging technology, enabling the battery to charge from empty to half-full in just 15 minutes. It rivals the TVS iQube range and Ather 450X.
