Jawa 42 FJ Spied Testing

Jawa 42 FJ

The Jawa 42 FJ has recently been caught on test runs. This latest prototype ditches the signature dual exhaust and adopts the single exhaust. As seen in the spy shots, there's no exhaust on the left side. The motorcycles with single-cylinder engines generally don't come with a dual-exhaust setup, but the 42 FJ's dual-exhaust setup enhances the bike's retro appeal. The recently spotted test mule with the single exhaust could simply mean that Jawa might be gunning for a lighter version of the 42 FJ. Moreover, it can be a cost-cutting move to make it wallet-friendly. However, the round headlamp and tear-shaped tank remain there to keep the retro charm alive.

What's On Offer?

Jawa 42 FJ
The Outgoing model

Currently, the bike is powered by a 334cc, liquid-cooled DOHC engine, which belts out 29.17 PS of power and 29.62 Nm of torque. It comes paired with a 6-speed gearbox. However, the 2025 version will continue to get the same engine and gearbox, but due to the change in power-to-weight ratio, the brand might retune it accordingly. Coming to the features, it boasts LED headlights, a USB charging port and a digital instrument cluster.

Apart from the single exhaust setup, the test mule remains unchanged in terms of hardware when compared to the outgoing model. It continues to spot the familiar round LED headlamp, telescopic front forks, and dual-channel ABS setup. The bike still rides on the same 18-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, while the seat height stays unchanged at 790 mm, ensuring the same accessible and balanced ergonomics as before.

Verdict

With the new Jawa 42 FJ with single exhaust setup, Jawa might be planning a lighter and more affordable version of the 42 FJ with the 2025 iteration. With hardware remaining untouched, this update could be a way to streamline the performance and cost. If you love the retro charm with a modern edge, the Jawa 42 FJ won't disappoint you.
