Renault India is preparing to launch the facelift of its top-selling SUV, the Renault Kiger. The test mule of the upcoming Renault Kiger facelift has been spotted several times, and the launch is expected to take place in the coming months. The upcoming Kiger facelift will boast an updated design, enhanced convenience, and safety features, among other changes. Design

The Renault Kiger is built on the same platform and is a rebadged version of the Nissan Magnite. The Magnite received a subtle facelift last year, and the same changes are expected to take place in the Kiger as well. The new Kiger is expected to boast a slightly updated front grille and bumper with new skid plates. The headlights are expected to get a slimmer LED DRL and a subtle design change. On the sides, we can expect a new design for the alloy wheels for the higher variants and a new design for the wheel caps in lower variants. The rear may get an updated bumper and slightly tweaked taillamp, among other highlights.
Interior & Features

The interior of the Kiger received a minor update last year in terms of aesthetics and features. With the launch of the facelift, we can expect it to get a new colour theme for the interior, leatherette seat, and door trims similar to the Magnite. On the features front, the Kiger already offers a decent number of features, such as an auto-dimming IRVM, an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity, automatic climate control, wireless charging, and others. The facelift is expected to enhance the safety features of the SUV by making 6-airbags, ESC, VSM, all-5 seat belt reminder, and some other safety features standard. Moreover, we can expect an updated UI for the 8-inch infotainment screen.
Engine Options

The Kiger facelift will continue to be available in two engine and multiple transmission options. It will continue to get the same 1.0-litre NA petrol engine and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. Both these engines are currently available in a 3-cylinder configuration. For the transmission options, the 1.0-litre NA engine will continue to get a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. On the other hand, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol will continue to get a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox option.

Launch, Price & Rivals
Renault India has recently updated the Kiger lineup with new features and the option of a retrofitted CNG kit. The brand appears to be planning to launch the facelift later this year.
The Kiger is one of the most affordable sub-4-metre SUVs in the Indian market. The current model is priced at Rs 6.09 lakh to Rs 11.23 lakh (ex-showroom). The upcoming model is expected to get a price hike of Rs 10,000 to 25,000 on the existing price. The brand will continue to offer the SUV with both NA and turbo petrol engine options, along with the existing transmission options.

Verdict
The Renault Kiger is one of the most well-rounded sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market. However, it has started to feel outdated now and have some downsides, such as the NVH and refinement. With the facelift, it is expected to get a more refined cabin with improved NVH. Addition the brand might give a subtle update to the design to give it a fresher and more appealing look.
