The Tata Nexon EV surely knows how to stay in the news. The car maker has announced that its safety ratings, which had originally been tested in 2024, will now also apply to the 45kWh battery variant. The Nexon EV can currently be had in two different guises; medium range and long range.

Tata Nexon EV 45 5-Star Safety Rating; Details

The Nexon EV was originally tested in May 2024, alongside the Punch EV. In terms of adult occupancy safety, the Nexon EV scored 29.86 out of 32.00 points, and 44.89 out of 45.00 points in terms of child occupancy safety. These safety ratings remain unchanged from then, but they also mean that all variants of the Nexon EV are now five-star rated.

In terms of safety features, the Nexon EV comes packing with six airbags, along with ESP, ISOFIX mounts, hill-hold assist, tyre pressure monitor, while a 360-degree camera, blind spot monitor, SOS, disc brakes on both ends, electronic parking brake, and hill descent control are available, depending on the variant you pick.

The Nexon EV 45 comes with a 45kWh battery pack, with a claimed range of 489km on a single charge, as per MIDC Part 1+Part 2 regulations. The battery can be charged from 10-100% in a claimed time of 6.3 hours via a 7.2kW AC fast charger. In terms of performance, the 45 variant puts out 142bhp and 215Nm of torque, with a claimed 0-100kmph time of 8.9 seconds.

Verdict
The Nexon EV now becomes one of the few EVs with a five-star safety rating that is applicable to all variants. This will certainly increase confidence among customers who have been on the fence about buying one, and they might now just go for it.
