KIA Carens Clavis EV Detailed Review
- The Kia Carens Clavis EV retains the same overall design as its ICE counterpart. It features the familiar digital tiger-nose grille at the front, connected LED DRLs with integrated turn signals, ICE Cube LED headlamps, and silver skid plates. On the sides, it sports 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels, while the overall side profile remains similar to the ICE model. The rear also mirrors the ICE version, with connected LED tail lamps.
- As for EV-specific changes, the front gets a centrally mounted charging port, while the side profile now features 17-inch dual-tone Aero Cut alloy wheels. The Clavis EV is available in six monotone and one dual-tone colour option.

- Following in the footsteps of the Clavis ICE, the EV version offers a similar cabin layout, but it is available with a 7-seater variant only. The seat arrangement remains unchanged, with a 12.25-inch dual-display setup, a D-cut steering wheel, and a minimalistic dashboard design.
- However, the EV gains a floating centre console with a sliding cover for the cupholders. This console also houses buttons for seat ventilation, auto hold, 360-degree camera, and front parking sensors. Beneath the console, there’s extra storage space, and the forward section offers multiple charging ports along with a wireless charging dock.
- There are a total of five USB Type-C ports. The second-row seats feature a 60:40 split with sliding, reclining, and tumble functions. The third row gets a 50:50 split with reclining and full-flat folding capability. As an EV, it also includes a 3-pin charging port offering Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality, allowing you to charge devices like laptops and more directly from the car.
- The Carens Clavis EV is offered with two battery pack options: a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh unit. The smaller 42 kWh battery delivers a claimed range of 404 km on a single charge, while the larger 51.4 kWh pack offers a range of up to 490 km. Both versions come with a front-wheel-drive (FWD) drivetrain.
- The electric motor paired with the 42 kWh battery produces 99 kW of power, whereas the 51.4 kWh version delivers 126 kW. Despite the power difference, both variants generate the same torque output of 255 Nm.
- The Clavis EV achieves 95% motor efficiency and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds with the larger 51.4 kWh battery. Additionally, it supports fast charging from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes using a 100 kW DC charger. Other highlights include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) support, an active air flap for improved aerodynamics, and optimized battery cooling.
- The battery pack is IP67-certified, making it both dustproof and waterproof. Kia also claims the battery has been tested through a 420 mm water soak test, drop test, and extreme vibration test. A liquid cooling system further ensures safe operation and effective thermal management, especially in peak Indian summers.

These include Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist, Front Collision-Avoidance Assist, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Blind View Monitor in the instrument cluster, and Rear Cross Traffic Collision-Avoidance, among others.
