Expert Verdict on XEV 9e
The XEV 9E is the larger of the two born-electric couple SUVs offered by Mahindra, and it also offers a more well-rounded, smoother design. The battery packs and the drivetrain are almost identical to each other, but while the BE 6E offers a cockpit-like experience with its interiors, the XEV 9E is a bit more practical. Prices for all variants are set to be revealed in the coming few days, but much like the BE 6E, the XEV 9E too has its design going for it.

Pros & Cons of Mahindra XEV 9e
Mahindra XEV 9e Detailed Review
-
The XEV 9E gets a much smoother, flowing silhouette, while the BE 6E is more edgy and sharp in terms of design.
-
The XEV 9E gets a closed-off grille panel with a full-length DRL strip running right above it. The new illuminated BE logo sits on the nose, while the angular LED headlights sit below the DRL pattern.
-
The side profile also carries a much smoother, cleaner look when compared to the BE 6E. 19-inch aero-optimized alloy rims are available as standard, while bigger 20-inch wheels are available as an optional extra. The use of cladding all around gives it a tougher stance as well.
-
The roofline of the XEV 9E is smoother and more naturally flowing towards the rear. The sleek LED tail lights are connected via a full-length LED strip running across the tailgate, giving it a ‘stepped’ treatment that looks cool.
-
In terms of dimensions, the XEV 9E is bigger than the BE 6E in every sense, and that makes it bigger than the Tata Curvv.ev as well.

The XEV 9E comes with a 43.3-inch digital slab, which consists of three individual display screens. This will remind you of a similar setup seen on cars from a much higher segment.
-
The overall screen setup runs on Mahindra’s AdrenoX software, while the connectivity features are powered by Mahindra’s new MAIA architecture.
-
It borrows the new flat-bottomed steering wheel from the BE 6E, which gets the new illuminated BE logo on a gloss-black surface, and the top-spec variant will come equipped with a panoramic sunroof.
-
Similar to the BE 6E, the XEV 9E also comes with screens mounted on the seatbacks, which allow you to plug any device and consume your desired form of content while on the move.
-
The XEV 9E also comes equipped with a level-2 ADAS suite, a 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, auto parking, an augmented-reality head-up display, a 360-degree camera, and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
-
Mahindra says the base variant will come with the three-screen setup, wireless smartphone connectivity, a four-speaker sound system, rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, automatic climate control, rear A/C vents, height adjustable driver’s seat, rake-and-reach adjustable steering and type-C ports among other features.

-
The 59kWh variant covers an MIDC-claimed 542km on a single charge, while the larger, 79kWh battery pack gets an MIDC-claimed range of 656km. A 20 to 80% charge in just 20 minutes is possible via a 175kW DC fast charger.
