SIAM, the leading representative body for Indian vehicle manufacturers, recently disclosed its export data for FY2024, shedding light on TVS Motor's international shipments of electric two-wheelers. Last fiscal year, TVS Motor exported a total of 1,173 electric vehicles.

In March 2024 alone, their exports comprised 924 units of a product labelled as 'BMW EV', indicating the likely reference to the BMW CE 02 EV. Moreover, between April 2023 and the end of February 2024, the company exported 249 units of the iQube electric scooter. These figures underscore TVS Motor's growing footprint in the global electric vehicle market.

TVS Motor and BMW Motorrad: History Of Collaboration

TVS Motor and BMW Motorrad have a history of collaboration, notably seen in their previous joint effort to develop the 310 cc motorcycle lineup, which included models like the Apache RR 310, Apache RTR 310, BMW G 310 R, BMW G 310 GS, and BMW G310 RR. Now, their partnership continues with the BMW CE 02, marking their second joint effort in engineering and design.

The BMW CE 02 features a robust double-loop steel frame, delivering 15hp and a 90-kilometre range per charge, with a top speed of 95kph. It sports LED headlights, a 3.5" micro TFT display, electric reverse gear, USB-C charging, basic connectivity, ABS on the front wheel, SURF and FLOW riding modes and more. In terms of suspension, the CE 02 offers a comfortable ride with an upside-down telescopic fork at the front and an adjustable shock absorber at the rear.

TVS Motor: Domestic And Global Expansion

In the fiscal year 2024, TVS saw a significant boost in its exports, which made up 22% of its total sales. With a remarkable 40,44,824 units shipped abroad, TVS reached an impressive milestone. Their domestic market also saw exceptional growth, soaring by 125% year-over-year from 82,108 units in FY2023. This month, they hit a cumulative sales figure of over 300,000 units since the product's launch in January 2020.

TVS's retail market share in FY2024 climbed to 19.37%, a substantial increase from the previous year's 11.27%. Expanding its reach, TVS recently entered the markets of Nepal, Vietnam, and France, in addition to its presence in over 80 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Notably, the company made a strategic move into the European market in

November 2023, solidifying its stance with a distribution pact with the Emil Frey Group to tap into select EU markets with high demand for two-wheelers. Most recently, they shipped 249 units to Nepal, showcasing their commitment to growth and global expansion.
