Tata Tiago NRG
Launch Date - August 4th
The facelifted version of the NRG now takes design inspiration from the new Tiago that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. It packs in updated styling, new alloy wheels, colour options and a larger touchscreen infotainment screen that offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The engine remains the same 1.2L (84 bhp/113Nm) as seen in the Tiago and we expect the price to stick at Rs 5.51 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Maruti Swift CNG
Expected Launch Date - Later this year
The ever-popular hatchback in the country will now be launched with a CNG version. The Swift carries a 1.2L DualJet (89bhp/113 Nm) and this is the same unit as found in the Maruti Baleno. We expect a premium of Rs 50,000 on the CNG version of the Swift. As of now, the prices of Maruti Swift ranges from Rs 5.81 lakh to Rs 8.56 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.

Tata Tiago CNG
Expected Launch Date - 2021 Festive Season
Next, on our list of upcoming Tata Cars in India 2021-2022 is another model from the house of Tata Motors. The carmaker has been testing out the CNG version of the Tiago and we believe that by the festive season, the hatchback will be launched. It will use the same 1.2L, three-cylinder petrol engine, however, the power figures will be decreased by at least 10%. The mid-variant XT is expected to get the CNG as of now. We expect a premium of Rs 50,000 for the CNG version when compared with its petrol counterpart.
New Maruti Celerio
Expected Launch Date - September
The carmaker is planning to bring the new-generation Celerio that will come with new design, features and engine options. The existing 1.0L version will continue and the higher variants could see the bigger 1.2L petrol unit. The expected prices can now start from Rs 4.80 lakh to Rs 6.23 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The expected launch date sticks to September.

Expected Launch Date - August-end
The most selling premium hatchback in its segment, Baleno is all set to receive a mid-cycle facelift. Here, you will get an addition of features in lower variants, exterior style change and among several other things. We believe that the facelifted Baleno will carry a hike of at least Rs 10,000 over its older model. The prices of Maruti Baleno sticks 5.97 lakh to Rs 7.27 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
With the interest of the Indian market shifting towards crossovers and SUVs, Maruti too is playing it safe with its cars. We expect that the Baleno crossover will be launched next year. Feature-wise, it will continue with the same set as found in the Baleno and the design will be focused on an aggressive side. Mechanically, it will continue with a 1.2-litre DualJet petrol motor and this unit will be mated with a 5-speed manual transmission. New Maruti Alto
Expected Launch Date - Early 2022
The most popular entry-level hatchback, Alto is all set to receive a newer generation in 2022. The hatchback will target the likes of Datsun Redi-GO 0.8L and Renault Kwid 0.8L. We expect to see some design changes along with some features enhancement on the newer model while things under the hood remain the same. Currently, the Alto 800 is priced from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 4.71 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - Late 2021
Hyundai i20 N Line is expected to launch later this year. This hatchback will carry the same 1.0L turbo petrol unit generating 120 PS with 172 Nm of peak torque but with a 7-speed DCT. We will also witness design changes on the body and the interior will now follow an all-black theme with red accents. We expect the price to stick to upwards of Rs 9 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Upcoming Cars in India 2021-2022 - Sedans
Launch Date - Mid-August
Honda is all set to bring a mid-cycle facelift of their second best selling sedan, Amaze. We can now expect an electric sunroof that will be first in its segment along with some design changes on the outside. The cabin too will follow a new design theme and expect some addition of features in the sedan. Mechanically, it will continue with the same 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel unit. We can expect a hike of Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 depending upon the variants.
Expected Launch Date - September
With the rising cost of petrol these days, it is safe to say that Maruti Suzuki is planning to bring their best selling sedan, Dzire, to the CNG clan. We can expect the launch of Dzire CNG by this festive season and it is expected to carry a premium of Rs 60,000 from its manual counterpart. For now, Maruti will bring in the CNG version with the popular VXI variant. Maruti Dzire returns the highest fuel economy of 23.26 kmpl MT and 24.12 kmpl for the AMT unit so expect that the CNG version too will be well versed.
Tata Tigor CNG
Expected Launch Date - October 2021
We have caught several spy shots of the Tigor CNG testing on Indian road conditions and it is safe to say that by the end of the festive season, the compact sedan will be launched. The Tigor CNG will rival the popular Hyundai Aura CNG and the upcoming Maruti Dzire CNG. We expect the price of Tata Tigor CNG to stick to Rs 6.80 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Skoda Rapid Replacement
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
Technically, this upcoming sedan will not be named Rapid and will sit at a level higher than it. It will pack in more features, powerful engine and dimension-wise, it will be longer, wider and taller. Mechanically you will get 1.0L TSI (115 PS/ 178 Nm) and 1.5L TSI (150 PS/ 250 Nm) paired with a 6-speed MT as standard. For the automatic, 1.0L TSI will be equipped with a 6-speed AT and 1.5L TSI to a 7-speed DSG. Feature-wise, the new Rapid will carry top of the features like an electric sunroof, connected car technology and others. We expect the price to start from Rs 11 lakh and the top model fetching till Rs 16 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The car is expected to launch by the later of 2022.
Hyundai Elantra
Expected Launch Date - Mid 2022
Next, on our list of upcoming cars in India 2021-2022, is the 2021 Elantra. The latest-geo Elantra is quite a looker and its India launch can be expected later next year. The D-Segment sedan has grown in dimensions and will carry loads of features and equipment on board. A new design approach, an updated cabin and a more powerful diesel engine. The prices of the current Hyundai Elantra sticks from Rs 17.86 lakh to Rs 21.13 lakh, however, the newer model is expected to reach above the Rs 20 lakh mark for the base model.
Volkswagen Passat
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
Currently, the Skoda Superb is enjoying premium sedan sales but very soon the new Volkswagen Passat will make its entry. Under the hood, the Passat will come with a 2.0L TSI petrol engine that makes as much as 190 PS of power with 320 Nm of peak torque. This unit is mated to a 7-speed DSG unit. We expect it to be launched in a single top of the line variant that will be priced at Rs 30 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Upcoming SUV Cars in India 2021-2022
Expected Launch Date - October 2021
The first SUV on our list of upcoming cars in India 2021-2022 has to be the most awaited SUV of 2021. The Mahindra XUV700 is scheduled to launch soon in the Indian market. Powered by a 2.2L mHawk diesel that will generate as much as 190 PS on tap, the XUV700 will rival Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar. It packs in an EP brake, automatic headlight booster, ADAS, biggest sunroof in the segment that can be controlled via Alexa, flush door handles and among others.
Expected Launch Date - Early 2022
Launched Thar in 2020, XUV700 in 2021 and the new-gen Scorpio in early 2022, Mahindra is all set to conquer the SUV market all over again. The new-age Scorpio will be built on a new chassis, packs in a new design, features and uses the same old 2.2L mHawk diesel unit. What's new is the power output and the inclusion of an automatic gearbox. Mahindra might even bring in 4WD for the higher variants of the Scorpio.
Updated Skoda Kodiaq
Expected Launch Date - Late 2021
Reports suggest that after the exciting launch of their mid-size SUV, Kushaq, Skoda will bring in the big daddy that is their flagship SUV, Kodiaq later this year. Skoda Kodiaq will be powered by a 2.0L TSI unit that generates as much as 190 PS of power with 320 Nm of peak torque. This is the same engine as seen on the Superb as well as on the Octavia. Once launched, the Kodiaq will rival VW Tiguan Allspace and the expected price sticks to Rs 31.5 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - September 2021
Ford is all set to bring in a mid-cycle facelift of the Ecosport this year and it packs in new features and the design update. Under the hood, the compact SUV will continue to be powered by a 1.5L petrol and diesel engine as an option. We expect a hike of Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000 for the facelifted model. The current prices of Ford Ecosport stick from Rs 8.19 lakh to Rs 11.70 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
VW Taigun
Launch Date - August 2021
The mid-size SUV segment is once again getting fierce as VW is gearing up for the launch of Taigun that will take on the likes of the Koreans along with its cousin, Skoda Kushaq. Powered by two petrol engines - 1.0L TSI and 1.5L TSI, Taigun packs in a squeaky design and feature-rich interior. It is all set to launch this month and the expected prices stick between Rs 9.90 lakh to Rs 17.40 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - September 2021
MG is all set to bring in the Kia Seltos and Hyundai Creta rival that will be named Astor. This mid-size SUV is based on the ZS EV but will be launched with an IC engine option. Under the hood, Astor will get two petrol engines - 1.5L naturally aspirated and 1.3L turbo petrol. A wide panoramic sunroof, connected car technology, larger touchscreen infotainment unit are some of the features that the Astor receives. We expect the launch by later August of this year. Volkswagen Tiguan
Expected Launch Date - Late 2021
The 5-seater SUV is all set to make a comeback and is expected to launch later this year in its facelifted avatar. Mechacanilly, it will be powered by the same 2.0L TSI (190 PS/ 320 Nm) engine that is seen on the Allspace. It is expected to be launched in a single top of the line variant and the expected prices stick to Rs 27 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Mahindra XUV300 Sportz
Expected Launch Date - Late 2021
Last showed at the 2020 Auto Expo, the expected launch of XUV300 Sportz sticks to later this year. Powered by the same 1.2L turbo petrol unit but now delivering as much as 130 PS of power will make this compact SUV the most powerful and safest in its segment. It is expected to come with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AT gearbox as an option. We expect the prices to stick north of Rs 11 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - Early 2022
Tata's HBX will take on the micro-SUV segment that is dominated by Maruti Ignis as of now. This micro SUV will be powered by a 1.2L petrol engine that is the same as found in Tiago. A larger touchscreen, body cladding across the body, automatic climate control, reverse parking camera are some of the features that will be on-board the HBX. The expected prices stick from Rs 4.90 lakh to Rs 6.90 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
Hyundai's Casper will be launched in 2022 and will take on the likes of Maruti Ignis and the upcoming Tata HBX. Several spy shots of the SUV has been spied on the internet and it packs in a youthful approach with its design. Mechanically, we expect two engine options - 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0L turbo petrol for the higher variants. We expect the price to stick between Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.10 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Honda N7X
Expected Launch Date - Late 2021
The 7-seater SUV was showcased in the global markets and we believe that Honda should bring in the HR-V to the Indian shores. This SUV will rival Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari and soon to be launched Mahindra XUV700. Under the hood, we can expect a 1.5L petrol and diesel engine on the HR-V with returned figures to match up to its competition.
Mahindra Bolero Neo+
Expected Launch Date - Early 2022
Mahindra will soon be bringing in the longer version of the Bolero Neo that will be called Neo+. This 9-seater SUV will be popular in rural areas and among cab aggregators. Mechanically, it will be powered by the 2.2L diesel unit that will generate as much as 120 bhp with 280 Nm of peak torque. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox only and the launch is expected in 2022.
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
The only competitor to the Mahindra Thar, the three-door Force Gurkha will be by this quarter. Under the hood, it packs in a 2.6L diesel that generates 89 bhp with 260 Nm of peak torque and will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. Feature-wise, it will have round headlights with LED DRLs, new alloy wheels, front power windows, touchscreen infotainment unit, manual HVAC, a working snorkel and more. Safety-wise, the Gurkha include ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a high-speed alert system, dual-front airbags and more. We expect the price to start from as low as Rs 10 lakh and top-spec model fetching till Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
After the successful launch of the C5 Aircross, the French carmaker wants to get into the shoes of the compact SUV segment and thus will launch the C3 Aircross. This compact SUV is expected to pack in a 1.2L turbo petrol engine mated to a 6-speed MT that is already present in the global markets. The expected prices stick between Rs 7 lakh to Rs 12 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
New Maruti Brezza
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
Yes, it is no surprise that Maruti is working on the new Brezza that will hit the Indian markets by 2022. This compact SUV will now pack in the latest features and tech along with a better Global NCAP safety rating. Maruti Brezza packs in a 4-star Global NCAP rating but with the newer model altogether, we can expect 5-stars. Mechanically, it will be powered by the same 1.5L petrol (103 bhp/ 138 Nm) engine but now we can expect a 1.5L diesel engine too.
Kia Seltos 7-seater
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
The 7-seater SUVs are getting popular day by day as we first saw the MG Hector Plus followed by Tata Safari and then the Hyundai Alcazar. All these are extended versions of Hector, Harrier and Creta respectively. Kia Motors too is inclined on bringing a 7-seater version of their popular selling product, Seltos and is expected to launch in mid-2022. This SUV will carry the 1.5L diesel as the Seltos but we can expect a more powerful version for the petrol unit. We expect a premium of Rs 5 lakh over the 5-seater version.
Jeep 7-Seater SUV
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
Jeep is all set to launch a Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour rival by next year. This 7-seater SUV will be powered by the same 2.0L turbocharged diesel unit that will now make 200 PS as opposed to the 170 PS in the Compass. It will carry the same 9-speed automatic gearbox and the higher variants will be offered with 4WD as an option. We expect the price to stick to Rs 31 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - Early 2022
The popular budget off-roader in the global market is all set to make its debut by 2022. Jimny comes in a 3-door version globally but for the Indian markets, Maruti is considering bringing a 5-door version. Under the hood, it will carry 1.5L making 103 bhp with 138 Nm of peak torque. This gearbox will be mated to a 5-speed manual unit as standard with an optional 4-speed torque converter. We expect the prices to stick to Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi and it'll be offered with 4WD as standard. The Jimny is among the most eagerly awaited upcoming cars in India 2021-2022.
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
Launched back in 2020, Creta is a brand in itself as the carmaker manages to churn out monthly sales of above 12,000 units. The facelifted model gets an all-new front fascia with a redesigned grille, headlights, fog lights and bumper design. Feature-wise, the facelifted Creta is expected to gain a 360-degree camera, heads-up display, and ADAS for top-spec variants.
Hyundai Palisade
Expected Launch Date - Early 2022
The bid daggy from Hyundai, Palisade is expected to launch by August 2022. This SUV will rival the likes of Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace and Skoda Kodiaq. Feature-wise, the Palisade is expected to get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other features like front powered seats, power-folding and reclinable second and third-row seats, ventilated seats, wireless charger, digital instrument cluster with heads-up display and more. We expect the price to stick to the north of Rs 35 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
MPVs
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
The Ertiga based MPV will be the fourth product from the carmaker. Currently, they have Glanza, Urban Cruiser, upcoming Belta then the Ertigsa based MPV. Design-wise, it will get subtle changes on the outside and the interior will follow a new colour combination. Mechanically, it will be powered by a single 1.5L petrol making 103 bhp with 138 Nm of peak torque. You will also get a 5-speed MT as standard and an optional 4-speed torque converter as an option. We expect the launch by early next year.
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
The facelifted Carnival will soon be launched in late-2022 and packs in new design and features. Under the hood, it'll continue with the same 2.2L diesel making 200 PS with 440 Nm of peak torque. We expect the price to stick from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 35 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Maruti Ertiga Diesel
Expected Launch Date - Early 2022
Several spy shots for the same has been spotted and by early next year, we can expect a diesel version of the Ertiga. It will use the in-house 1.5L DDiS unit that will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The inclusion of an oil burner will fill in the gap for people who churn out more kilometres on highways.
Hyundai Stargazer
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
Hyundai is all set to bring a Maruti Ertiga rival by the mid of next year and it will be named Stargazer. This MPV underpins the Alcazar's platform and will measure around 4.5 metres in length. Engine options for the same will include a 1.5L petrol and diesel unit. Both manual and automatic transmission will be on offer and the expected price will start from as low as Rs 9.50 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
The 6-seater premium version of the Ertiga will too get an oil burner by next year. Launched only with a 1.5L petrol (103 bhp/138Nm) motor, XL6 will demand more sales once the diesel version gets launched. As far as the prices are concerned, expect a margin of at least Rs 80,000 on the diesel compared with its petrol counterparts.
MG G10 MPV
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
MG is gearing up for the launch of G10 MPV next year that rivals Kia Carnival and Toyota Innova Crysta. This one measure 5168 mm in length, 1980 mm in width, 1928 mm in height and gets a wheelbase of 3198 mm. It will be available with 7,8 and 9-seating configurations. Features like a three-piece panoramic sunroof, a larger touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated seats, powered driver seat, dual-zone climate control, rear sliding doors will be observed. The prices for the MPV will be north of Rs 25 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
MG 360M
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
MG is also gearing up for its second MPV that will lock its horns with the popular Maruti Ertiga and XL6. This one measure 4615 mm in length, 1735 mm in width, 1660 mm in height and gets a wheelbase of 2750 mm. Under the hood, it will pack a 1.5L motor that generates as much as 103 bhp with 135 Nm of peak torque. This unit comes with a CVT gearbox only.
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
A petrol-powered Marazzo is on the cards for a long time now and we expect the launch will happen in mid-2022. A 1.5L turbo petrol engine is on the offer that is expected to make as much as 168 PS with 280 Nm of peak torque. A 6-speed manual transmission will come as standard and the carmaker is also inclining towards an automatic gearbox. The prices will stick similar to the diesel Marazzo.
EVs
Tata Altroz EV
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
Tata Motors is planning on bringing the EV version of the Altroz by later next year. We expect it'll house the same 30.2kWh battery pack as found in Nexon and the ARAI certified driving range will stick to 312 km. The expected price of Altroz EV will start from as low as Rs 10 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Expected Launch Date - Early 2022
Tata is yet to bring the private version of the Tigor EV to the Indian market. As of now, it is available to commercial buyers only. Also known as the XPRESS T-EV, it carries two battery packs, 21.5 kWh and 16.5 kWh. The driving range for the same sticks to 213 km and 165 km respectively. The launch is expected soon.
MG EV
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
MG is gearing up for the launch of a new sub-compact EV that will lock its horn with the Tata Nexon EV. It will be priced competitively to the Nexon EV and will feature uber loads of features. We expect the price to start from as low as Rs 13 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi. The launch is expected by later next year.
Mahindra XUV300 Electric
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
The carmaker showcased the electric SUV at the 2020 Auto Epo and by later next year, it will get launched. As of now, there's nothing official as to what battery pack will be coming in the eXUV300 but as per sources, it will closely rival the Tata Nexon EV. We expect the price range to start from Rs 14 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Renault KZ-E
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
The electric version of the Kwid, KZ-E is powered by a 26.8 kWh battery pack that produces 44 bhp with 125 Nm of peak torque. It is underpinned by the same CMF-A platform that is seen on the Triber. If this car comes into production then it will be the most affordable electric car in India.
Expected Launch Date - Late 2022
We believe that Maruti will be bringing in its first electric car by later next year and it will be based on the Wagon R. As of now, there's no official update of the battery pack or the driving range itself but we expect a decent 120 km to 140 km driving range.
Expected Launch Date - Mid-2022
The electric sedan is expected to hit the Indian shores by later next year. It measures 4693 mm in length, 2087 in width and gets a wheelbase of 2875 mm.
