Enhanced Interaction
Before the ChatGPT integration, VW's IDA system was capable of controlling features such as climate control and navigation only. With the all-new AI integration with ChatGPT, drivers can have engaging conversations with the chatbot. For example, drivers can ask their car about the best places to visit around them during a long drive or road trip or ask about the latest news according to their interest area. The new ChatGPT integration also answers any question asked by kids which eventually makes the journey even more joyous.
Natural Language Ability
Some countries consider higher tech inside the car's cabin unsafe because of the distraction they create for drivers. Volkswagen has given a special emphasis on the natural language ability of the ChatGPT. This allows the system to understand any command or question asked by the driver naturally unlike other AI chatbots which require fixed commands. The natural language ability decreases the distraction of drivers and allows them to focus on the road.
Apart from this, there is no need to create an account or download an app, instead driver just needs to say "Hello IDA" or press the button to activate the AI voice assistant.
No Security and Privacy Threat
Every AI chatbot collects data to improve its response according to the user's behaviour, but this is not the case with VW's AI integration. The Volkswagen system makes sure that ChatGPT doesn't get access to vehicle information. It has also been clarified that the system sends the data to ChatGPT anonymously when it is unable to close the query itself. Furthermore, the data is erased immediately once the user gets the desired response which ensures a high level of privacy of the vehicle.
