Expert Verdict on Venue
The new Venue seemingly addresses the biggest issue it faced in the past; space, since this one has grown in dimensions. This car is now even more feature-packed than before, and the addition of a new diesel automatic should appeal to a lot of people. That said, buyers of the nat-asp petrol still deserve an automatic option as well.
Pros & Cons of Hyundai Venue
Should I buy the Venue?
-
The Venue retains the boxy silhouette, but there are plenty of changes that have taken place in its design. The front end strongly resembles the Alcazar, with the connected LED strip connecting the vertical headlamps, along with the large grille, giving it an even more pronounced, aggressive look.
-
From the sides, the new Venue seems to resemble the Exter more, appearing like a grown-up version. The front and rear fenders are flared, and there are further sharp creases to break the visual mass. It also gets black cladding all over for protection, and for the SUV look and feel. The Venue also gets 16-inch wheels with diamond-cut alloy rims.
-
The rear appears rather clean and minimalistic, with a completely new tailgate, a slim tail light treatment, with a full-length connecting strip. It also gets a mix of black cladding treatment and a silver faux skid plate treatment on the lower portion of the rear bumper.
Venue body specifications:
| Wheel Size | R15 & R16 |
| Seating Capacity | 5 seaters |
| Boot Space | 375 liters |
-
The new Venue retains the three powertrain options it has always been available with. These include the 1.2-litre, nat-asp petrol, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel, with various choices of manual and automatic transmission.
-
The 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine is likely going to be the pick of the lot for a majority of buyers, and it remains unchanged in terms of output figures. This engine produces 81.8bhp and 114.7Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. There is no automatic transmission option available with this powertrain.
-
Next up is the 1.0-litre, turbo petrol engine, which should cater more to those buyers who want more performance from their compact SUV but aren’t keen on going for a diesel. This engine continues to produce 118.4bhp and 172Nm of torque, paired to either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
-
The 1.5-litre diesel engine has been retained, and it also carries on unchanged in the same state of tune. This engine produces 113.9bhp and 250Nm of torque. However, this time, the diesel engine now also gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic, in addition to the 6-speed manual transmission.
-
The new Venue comes with a drastically-revamped interior that seems to take inspiration from some global-spec Hyundai models. The entire centre console has been redone, with physical buttons for the A/C and media controls, and the A/C vents becoming far slimmer. Like most modern cars, the Venue now also gets a blended screen setup for the infotainment display and instrument cluster, housing both the 12.3-inch units.
-
The steering wheel on the new Venue is also different, and seems to draw inspiration from the Creta Electric's unit with no Hyundai branding on it. It is a three-spoke unit with controls mounted on either side. Some features include a four-step power-adjustable driver seat, a two-step reclining rear bench, drive modes, traction control, a level 2 ADAS suite and rear window blinds among other things.
