Variant Recommendation
Nissan Magnite comes with XE, XL, XV, & XV Premium variants. These variants are available with the option of a naturally-aspirated petrol engine for base variants and from XL onwards you can choose the option of a turbo-petrol engine. The base XE variant is recommended for budget buyers as it misses a lot of features. The XL is a worthy upgrade over the base model and it is best to choose the XV variant as it turns out to be a worthy upgrade. If you want turbo engine options the XV can be a good option. If you are someone who doesn’t want to miss any feature the XV Premium can be a good option for you. The Magnite also comes in different editions which sets it apart from the regular editions.
Pros & Cons of Nissan Magnite 2020 - 2024
Should I buy the Magnite 2020 - 2024?
If you are in the market for a small SUV that offers decent space and a good number of features, the Magnite should be in your consideration. It offers good space, decent ride quality, and several features to keep you happy on your daily runs. However, the limited sales and service network is a downside for the Magnite. In that case, you can choose the Hyundai Exter or the Tata Punch which comes with good engine options and features and is available with a wide sales and service network.
- The Magnite comes with a 1.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine. Both the engine options come with a three-cylinder configuration. The Magnite NA petrol engine produces 72 PS of power and 96 Nm of peak torque, while the turbo petrol engine produces 100 PS of power and 160 Nm of peak torque. For the transmissions, the naturally aspirated petrol engine comes mated to a 5-speed manual and an AMT gearbox, on the other hand, the turbo petrol engine comes with a 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
- The performance of both engines is decent but they both lack refinement. The engine noise seeps into the cabin. The low-range performance is not very satisfactory as it shows some lags but the mid-range performance is good. At city speeds, you can keep it under 2,000 RPM and it will do the work but on highways, the mid-range needs to be in play. The chunky mid-range torque will keep you happy on the highway and you don’t need to redline it to get a good performance.
Magnite 2020 - 2024 engine specifications:
Transmission | Manual, Automatic & Automatic (CVT) |
Mileage | 17 kmpl to 20 kmpl |
Engine | 999 cc |
Power | 98.63 bhp @ 5000 rpm |
Torque | 152 Nm @ 2200-4400 rpm |
Drive Train | FWD, Front Wheel Drive(FWD) & Front Wheel Drive (FWD) |
- Although the Nissan Magnite is not a premium SUV the interior makes it more evident with the use of blend hard plastic. Competitors such as the Hyundai Exter also offer hard plastic on the inside but it gives a touch of premium-ness with fabric use which does not feel blend. The cabin would have been more better if the brand had given the glossy black treatment on some parts.
- However, the digital console, touchscreen infotainment, and center console give it a good feel. The storage spaces inside the cabin are sufficient, the center console offers good space to keep your phone, and it comes with a wireless charging dock, and two cup holders in the center area.
- The space inside the cabin is good, and the shoulder room, headroom, and legroom is good bolstered with good seat cushioning. The cabin feels larger considering the size of the car. The visibility is good, thanks to the large ORVMs and good glass area. The rear also offers good space with decent thigh support. The Magnite gets 336 litres of boot space and it can be increased up to 690 litres by folding the rear split seats.
- The Magnite is made for urban usage it does show its city-driving aspects quite well. The suspension is soft and at city speeds it offers a good ride quality by absorbing almost every pothole and large bumps easily. But things get a bit nasty at higher speeds on highways where the suspension feels noisy and the thuds seep into the cabin. At higher speeds, the suspension does not feel much poised. The 205mm ground clearance makes it capable of handling most of the city's off-road conditions.
- The steering feedback is not that great but it’ll do the job. It gives a good response in city driving conditions where you are driving at a lower speed as compared to the highways. At higher speeds, it fails to offer satisfactory high-speed performance.
- For the brakes, they offer good bite in city conditions but fail to give confidence on the highways and at higher speeds. The braking could’ve been better for highway use.
-
The interior of the Nissan Magnite is filled with a good number of features. It gets an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, JBL speakers, wireless charging, TPMS, 360-degree camera, and automatic climate control among other convenience features.
-
On the safety front, it gets ABS with EBD, ISOFIX seat mounts, traction control, hill-start assist, brake assist, and 4-star safety rating, among other safety features.
