Nissan Magnite Pros
Attractive Pricing
With a starting price of Rs 5.99 lakh, the Nissan Magnite is one of the cheapest compact SUVs in India. At this price, the Nissan Magnite not only undercuts all the other compact SUVs but also some smaller hatchbacks. While the pricing of Magnite is already low, the offers and discounts offered by the authorized dealers make it an even more compelling option.
Competition check: All the other compact SUVs, and even some variants of smaller hatchbacks, are priced higher than the Nissan Magnite.
Spacious Cabin
Sub-four-metre SUVs are usually a compromise regarding rear seat space, but the Nissan Magnite is one of the few exceptions that defy this perception. With a wheelbase of 2,500mm, the Nissan Magnite has a practical and spacious cabin with enough room for all five passengers.
Competition check: While the Nissan Magnite might not be as spacious as a premium hatchback, it has more room at the rear than most sub-four-metre SUVs.
Performance of Turbo-Petrol Engine
The 1.0-litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol engine of the Nissan Magnite claims 100 PS and 160 Nm. These might not be class-leading figures, but considering the light kerb weight of slightly over a tonne, the Magnite has one of the best-in-class power-to-weight ratios among all sub-four-metre SUVs.
Competition check: Barring the Maruti Suzuki Fronx, the turbo-petrol engine offered in all the other sub-four-metre compact SUVs delivers higher power and torque figures.
Decently Equipped
While the Nissan Magnite might be undercutting all the sub-four-metre SUVs in pricing, its equipment list proves that it is not an attempt at cost-cutting. The Magnite is decently equipped with new-age features like a full-TFT instrument console, wireless charger, push start-stop button, LED headlamps with LED DRLs and 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels.
Competition check: The Nissan Magnite lacks crucial features like a sunroof, ventilated seats, and a premium sound system that are available in rivals like Tata Nexon and Kia Sonet.
Nissan Magnite Cons
Limited updates since its launch
The Nissan Magnite debuted in 2020, and since then, this subcompact SUV has received minimal updates. The overall styling, powertrain, and equipment lists have remained unchanged. The only significant update for the Nissan Magnite was the addition of variants with AMT for the naturally aspirated petrol engine. Considering that the Magnite is already four years old, the lack of updates makes it feel dated.
Competition check: All the other sub-four metre compact SUVs are fresher than the Nissan Magnite, with all of them launched after it, either in all-new or facelifted forms.
NA Engine Lacks Power
While the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine offers delightful performance in the Nissan Magnite, the other engine option a 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine doesn't feel the same. With 72 PS and 96 Nm at its best, this petrol engine feels below average, with the lack of power becoming more evident while driving at higher speeds on highways.
Competition check: The 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine of the Nissan Magnite is the least potent engine among all SUVs in India.
Limited After Sales-Support
Despite being in the Indian car market for so many years, Nissan hasn't been able to expand its presence like other mainstream brands. This has affected Nissan Magnite's sales and after-sales experience. Despite its affordability, the Nissan Magnite hasn't been able to pull the crowd from smaller towns and rural parts of the country due to its restricted presence only in major cities.
Competition check: Unlike other mainstream rivals like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai, Tata, Kia, and Mahindra, Nissan has a limited presence restricted only to major cities.

Verdict
The Nissan Magnite is one of the most well-priced cars on sale in India right now. If Nissan takes corrective measures like expanding its portfolio and presence in India, Magnite's sales will only grow more than at the current pace.
