Price Differences
So, Ola Electric launched two different models - Roadster X and Roadster X+, and as the moniker suggests, the first one will be more affordable, while the second one is on the expensive side. As for the pricing, Ola has announced the introductory rates, which will change after some time. So, let's take a look at the pricing once and for all.
Roadster X
- 2.5 kWh - Rs 74,999
- 3.5 kWh - Rs 84,999
- 4.5 kWh - Rs 95,999
Roadster X+
- 4.5 kWh - Rs 1,04,999
- 9.1 kWh - Rs 1,54,999
Battery specifications Difference
Here, Ola creates a world of difference, as the most affordable version of the Roadster X features a 2.5 kWh battery pack, while the top trim of the Roadster X+ boasts a 9.1 kWh battery pack. Now, to better understand the figures of each model with ease, it's better to take the help of tables:
Ola Roadster X | X (2.5 kWh) | X (3.5 kWh) | X (4.5 kWh) |
Peak Power | 7 KW (9.5 ps) | 7 KW (9.5 ps) | 7 KW (9.5 ps) |
Top Speed | 105 km/h | 118 km/h | 118 km/h |
Acceleration | 3.4 seconds | 3.1 seconds | 3.1 seconds |
Range (IDC) | 140 km | 196 km | 252 km |
Charging Time (0% - 80%) | 6.2 hrs | 4.6 hrs | 5.9 hrs |
Ola Roadster X + | X+ (4.5 kWh) | X+ (9.1 kWh) |
Peak Power | 11 KW (14.95 ps) | 11 KW (14.95 ps) |
Top Speed | 125 km/h | 125 km/h |
Acceleration | 2.7 seconds | 2.7 seconds |
Range (IDC) | 252 km | 501 km |
Charging Time (0% - 80%) | 5.9 hrs | 8.0 hrs |
Now, these two tables highlight the significant differences between each variant of the Roadster lineup. The 4.5 kWh X+ model offers the same range as the X, but it's faster and has more power. Apart from these two, you won't find any other differences between the products here. Lastly, the top-spec Ola Roadster X+ with a 9.1 kWh battery pack uses Ola's own 4680 Bharat Cell, developed in their Giga factory.
Now, it's clear that if you want high performance and an insane amount of range, the 9.1 kWh battery will satisfy you. However, we think the X with a 4.5 kWh battery has more than enough muscle to fulfill all your requirements from an electric bike.
Features Difference
On the feature front, this comparison is very simple, as all the Roadster X variants come with drum brakes on both alloy wheels, an LED headlamp with a position lamp, a 4.3-inch colored LCD screen with Sports, Normal, and Eco drive modes, telescopic front suspension, twin-shock rear suspension, and five colors to choose from. So, there is absolutely no difference in terms of features provided to each version. However, one big difference lies in the charger type and capacity:
2.5 kWh - Portable 350 W
3.5 kWh - Portable 750 W
4.5 kWh - Portable 750 W
Surprisingly, the Roadster X+ only gets disc brakes at the front, and apart from that, there is absolutely no feature difference between these models in the Roadster series. You'll get the same 4.3-inch LCD, drive modes, and the same suspension setup. The only major difference is the 1000W portable charger available with the 9.1 kWh pack. Lastly, even the tyre size of each variant is identical - 18 inches at the front and 17 inches at the rear.

Verdict
This Roadster series has become slimmer compared to the models first shown last year on August 15. Now, there is no difference between the two variants in terms of design, but each one has a different battery pack with unique specifications. Out of these five products, I believe the Roadster X with a 3.5 kWh battery pack offers the most value for money, as it's affordable, offers good IDC range, comes with the same features as any other variant, and is quick. The Roadster X+ with 500 km of range doesn't make much sense, as people don't really need that much range from a motorcycle.
