Engine
The upcoming Honda City will stick to the 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. However, with the new BS6 emission norms, the engine will be upgraded to newer technology. The 1.5L petrol engine is already tuned to the BS6 specifications and the power output remains unchanged. It churns the same 118 bhp on tap along with 145 Nm of peak torque. The transmission will stick to 5-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.
A petrol mild-hybrid engine is expected to join the line-up too which will improve fuel efficiency. Honda is yet to announce the reveal the hybrid powertrain. Globally, the City is also introduced with a 1.0L turbo petrol unit which produces 122 bhp and is available with a CVT gearbox only.
Talking about the BS6 diesel engine, then it is expected to churn 99 bhp with 200 Nm of maximum torque. A 6-speed MT will be carried over and a CVT can be expected for convenience.
Design
Like the current-gen Honda City which packs subtle design and creases on the lower body, the upcoming sedan will continue its legacy giving a premium approach to its buyers. There are few design changes like at upfront you get wraparound headlights and the grille has now grown in size.
LED Projectors with integrated Daytime Running Lights can be expected on the higher VX and ZX trims. The side profile will continue to get diamond cut alloy wheels but with a new design. It is the rear profile which sees major upgrade as the LED taillights now extend further to the side profile.

The instrument cluster is now two-dialled compared to the three dialled and the MID is placed in the between which gives out an appropriate display. The automatic climate control also gets new set up with user-friendly three rotary knobs. The larger 8.0-inch touchscreen on the upcoming City makes it look good and the AC vents are also placed vertically. The all-new steering wheel houses multi-function controls like media, cruise control and others.
The 2020 Honda City carries six airbags, ABS with EBD, LED lights, Cruise control, electric sunroof and a large touchscreen infotainment system. They are the same as the ongoing model in India.
