The German luxury carmaker, Mercedes-Benz at the beginning of 2022 confirmed the entry of two new sedans in the market, the Maybach S580 and the 2022 Mercedes C-Class. This article will talk about the upcoming C-Class that is expected to be launched in May.
Mercedes has a very premium market to target. That said, the existing C-Class is already out of stock and the upcoming one is also expected to follow its predecessor's footsteps. The fifth-generation C-Class was unveiled in the international markets almost a year ago. The flagship sedan is now about to make its entry in India.

The exterior design of the sedan resembles that of the latest generation S-Class. Mercedes has also tweaked the dimensions of the upcoming C-Class and will come with a longer wheelbase. It will be 65 mm longer than the existing one.

To give it a more premium look and feel, the interior of the sedan sports a spacious cabin. Mercedes now offers much more advanced and new age creature comforts and features. It comes equipped with an 11.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital drivers display and the steering wheel also looks sporty with those steering mounted controls influenced by the latest S-Class.
The upcoming C-Class will be launched with petrol and diesel variants. The petrol one will be known as C200 and will be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that will churn out 167HP of maximum power and 250 Nm of peak torque.
The diesel unit will be known as C200d is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine that will churn out 197HP of maximum power and 440 Nm of peak torque. It will come mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission that will be only on offer.
Mercedes is also expected to launch the Maybach S580 that will be assembled in India. There is a possibility that Mercedes might someday introduce a mild-hybrid tech as well with the upcoming C-Class. The latest generation C-Class in the international markets is also available in an electrified variant.
The upcoming latest generation C-Class is expected to be a bit more fuel-efficient than the existing one. With such powerful engines installed in the sedan, it still manages to be an economical one. For the ones who love to travel long distances, the latest generation C-Class will be the best choice to consider in that price tag.
