2023 KTM Duke electric sports bike will be based on the same design layout as its ICE-powered siblings & it'll be based on the small bike segment.
The automotive world is sailing the waves of the electric mobility storm. Every manufacturer is trying its best to remain on board with compatible and relevant products. Adding itself to the list of electric manufacturers KTM is soon going to enter the e-mobility segment with the 2023 KTM Duke electric sports bike.
KTM recently shared the images of the electric Duke in its annual report. The images have already taken aback the automotive world by storm. Now, based on the sketch from the annual report an artist named Pratyoush Rout has rendered what the upcoming e-bike can look like.
The design of the KTM Duke electric will resemble the smaller capacity ICE-powered Duke bikes such as the KTM Duke 125. Sharp outlook, raised fuel tank, single-pod LED headlight, and split-seat design with raised rear end; are all rendered in the new artistic images. The render gives us a closer look at how the new e-bike from KTM can look. The trellis frame will also be tuned to accommodate the battery pack and electric motor. The belly pan and front body panels are designed to save the powerplant from weather etc.
A fat rear tyre will enhance the handling that has been a forte to KTM bikes. Also, a single-sided swingarm and belt-driven power transmission system shall ensure equivalent performance to the entry-level sports bikes. The rendered images also showcase the use of large front disc brakes and rear disc brakes. KTM has been well-known for its handling, ride, and aggressive posture; which the Duke electric is also expected to retain.
As of now, the revealed technical details say that the upcoming bike will use a 5.5 kWh battery pack. This battery pack will supply power to a 13.4 hp electric motor. The lightweight chassis means the power to weight ratio will be high and equivalent to the entry-level ICE-powered siblings. There are no details regarding the claimed riding range but we anticipate that the bike will easily do 100+ km on a single charge. KTM will equip the new e-bike with loads of features such as multiple riding modes, mono-shock suspension at the rear, Bluetooth connectivity, etc.
While the 2023 KTM Duke electric is under construction; the shortage of parts across the pan globe is not helping much either. The global debut of the bike is expected by the year 2023 if everything goes in the right direction. Once showcased globally and launched, KTM might as well bring the electric Duke to India. The Indian EV market is growing faster than any other auto market in the world. For now, KTM is taking its sweet time constructing its first-ever electric motorcycle.
