2024 TVS Jupiter Teaser Out, Launch On August 22

KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • Conservative design likely to be replaced with a more youthful look
  • Likely to retain the 109.7cc engine
  • Could feature an updated connectivity suite and new digital cluster
  • To be available in both drum and disc brake versions

The TVS Jupiter is one of the most popular scooters in India for various reasons; it's an affordable scooter with great ride quality, a decent mix of features, good build quality, and low running costs. However, save for some tweaks here and there and special editions, the Jupiter has remained largely unchanged. That is set to change, with TVS confirming the arrival of the next-generation Jupiter, coming on August 22. Let's take a look at things we can expect from the new TVS Jupiter, but first, make sure to join the 91wheels WhatsApp Community for all the latest automotive updates!

New TVS Jupiter Design

TVS Jupiter

Even in its current guise, the Jupiter manages to sell in good numbers, but it is likely that TVS will shake things up a bit. The two-wheeler manufacturer has given us a glimpse of what to expect.

The teaser shows a new design for the headlamp that seems to be placed lower on the front panel, with a DRL above it and flanked by turn-indicators on either side. This treatment suggests that Jupiter might get a more youthful design compared to its current look, which is more conventional and suits all ages. We can also expect a similar treatment for the rear as well. Overall, certainly nothing as edgy as a Ntorq, but something more dynamic than its current conservative design.

New TVS Jupiter Features

In terms of features, we can expect a new, digital instrument cluster (could be semi-digital on the lower variants), along with an updated connectivity system. TVS could also likely give it navigation and incoming call/SMS alerts, to start with.

New TVS Jupiter Engine

While TVS hasn't mentioned anything about the engine just yet, it is likely to continue with the same 109cc mill, producing 7.7bhp and 8.8Nm of torque. The new Jupiter is also likely to retain its current 12-inch wheel setup, the three-step adjustable rear suspension, and there will be a disc brake version available as well.

Verdict

There are two sides to this; on one hand, TVS seems to be refining its best-selling scooter and making it better, while on the other, it seems to be moving away from the formula that makes the Jupiter so successful. The Jupiter currently goes up against the Honda Activa, Hero Pleasure and the Hero Duet, but with its new youthful approach, the Honda Dio and the Hero Maestro Edge could also be considered as its rivals.
