Hyundai Motors India is all set to launch its new micro SUV Exter. Set to rival the Tata Punch in the micro SUV segment, the Exter is likely to bring a lot of tech & features in the segment, several of which the Tata Punch misses out on. Although Tata Punch is a feature-loaded vehicle, it still lacks some features that are confirmed or expected to be offered in the upcoming Hyundai Exter. In this article, we have discussed 5 such features that the Tata Punch needs in order to get an upper hand over the Hyundai Exter.
5 Features Tata Punch Needs: Sunroof
Hyundai will soon launch its micro SUV Exter to rival the Tata Punch. The new Punch rival is most likely to come with a sunroof. The spy images of the Exter test vehicles also revealed the presence of a sunroof. When launched, the Hyundai Exter will become one of the most affordable SUVs in India with a sunroof. To rival it, Tata Motors need to add a sunroof in the Punch. In fact, the recently revealed Tata Altroz iCNG does get a smart voice control sunroof. Moreover, the Punch iCNG showcased by Tata at the 2023 auto expo was equipped with a sunroof. It is expected that Tata will add a sunroof in the Punch sometime around the launch of the Hyundai Exter.
5 Features Tata Punch Needs: Wireless Charger
Hyundai's smaller segment cars like Aura & Grand i10 Nios now offer a wireless charger. Even the same segment cars like Maruti Fronx, Nissan Magnite, and Renault Kiger offer this feature. The upcoming Hyundai Exter too is expected to offer a wireless charger. Moreover, Tata has added the wireless charger feature in the recently revealed Tata Altroz iCNG. Now we expect the brand to add this feature to the Punch too.
5 Features Tata Punch Needs: Air Purifier
Tata cars like Nexon, Harrier & Safari offer an in-built air purifier feature. Moreover, the new Tata Altroz CNG also gets the air purifier feature with an AQI display integrated into the 7-inch infotainment system. As Tata Punch gets the same 7-inch infotainment system as the Altroz, it would be easy for Tata to integrate the air purifier feature in the Punch too. The upcoming update of the Tata Punch is expected to come with this feature.
5 Features Tata Punch Needs: Six Airbags
The ongoing model of Tata Punch gets only dual front airbags. But the Punch CNG showcased by Tata at the 2023 auto expo had six airbags. Moreover, the upcoming government regulation on the compulsory fitment of six airbags in all cars is also set to be effective from 1st October 2023. Because of that, Tata will eventually need to add six airbags in the Punch, but we expect the brand to do so sometime around the launch of Hyundai Exter.
5 Features Tata Punch Needs: More Active Safety Tech
The current Tata Punch model comes with ABS, EBD & Brake Sway Control as active safety features. Several of the cars in its segment like Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Maruti Fronx, Maruti Ignis, and several cars from the lower segments like Hyundai Aura, Hyundai i10 Nios, Maruti Baleno, Maruti Swift, etc, now get active safety features like ESP, traction control & hill hold. Some even offer TPMS. Moreover, as Hyundai is standardizing the active safety features like ESP, traction control & hill hold on its cars, the upcoming Exter is also expected to come with these as standard. Now, Tata needs to add active safety features like ESP, traction control, hill hold, TPMS, rollover mitigation, brake disc wiping, etc in the Punch and go beyond the 5-star G-Ncap ratings.
