Ampere Electric Scooters Prices Get Big Hike From June '23- New Prices

June 2023 is the month when the FAME-II subsidy cut comes to life, consequently a deeper hole in your pockets as well. Yes, electric scooter prices are now increasing by a massive margin for some makers. Making its revised price list out in public is the Ampere Electric scooters- a unit of Greaves Electric Mobility. It registers a massive hike of up to Rs. 39,000.

Ampere Electric Scooters- Magnus Ex, Zeal Ex, Primus- Old Vs. New Price

The price hike starts from Rs. 21,000 for the Magnus Ex and tops out at Rs. 39,000 for the Primus scooter. Since all the manufacturers have increased the prices with a big jump, Ampere scooters are following suit. The Zeal Ex, on the other hand, gets a similar raise of Rs. 20,900.

Zeal Ex

Ampere's most affordable offering is the Zeal EX. It has a 60V, 2.3 kWh Li battery, supplying power to a 1.8 KW electric motor. The scooter has a range of 80-100 km with a top speed of 50-52 kmph. The Max loading capacity is 150 kg and takes 5 hours to juice up from 0-100 %.

Magnus Ex

The mid-ranger Magnus Ex comes with a 60 V, 38.25 ah Advanced lithium battery, that powers the same motor as the one on Zeal. Charging time sits in the ballpark of 6-7 hours with a range of almost 100 km on a full charge. With the 21,000 rupees price hike, it now jumps over to the 1 Lakh club with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 1,04,900.

Primus Ex

Primus, the flagship Ampere product commands a premium of a massive Rs. 39,000, which is also the highest among the portfolio. It retails at a new price of Rs. 1,49,000 ex-showroom. Highlights of this scooter are -a top speed of 77 kmph, 0 to 40 kmph in under 5 seconds, and ARAI certified range of 107 km. It comes with a 48V, 3KWh battery pack that powers the 3400/4000W motor. Ampere Primus gets 3 riding modes - Eco, City, PWR, and Reverse with a charging time of around 5 hours.

VERDICT

The massive price hikes are definitely going to slow down the sales of E-scooters. But, since the price hike is seen across different makers, the impact is likely to subside with time.
