To mark and celebrate its tenth-anniversary, ASEAN NCAP announced its Decade Of Safer Vehicle Awards recently to recognise the vehicle safety achievements of car companies. The Honda City was awarded the Excellent Award for Consistent Five-star. The fifth-gen Honda City safety ratings stood at 5 stars and the previous two generations of the car too scored a perfect score of five in the year 2012 and 2014 respectively. The new Honda City takes on the rivals like the Hyundai Verna and the Maruti Ciaz in the Indian market and also faces stiff competition from the upcoming sedans from Skoda and Volkswagen.
ASEAN NCAP tested the new fifth-generation Honda City back in March 2020 and the car passed all the safety crash tests with flying colours. The Thai-spec iteration of the Honda City scored a five-star rating in the crash tests and scored a cumulative score of 86.54 out of 100 in side-impact tests and full frontal offset impact. The Thai-spec model is equipped with the G-FOrce control body structure that the brand calls G-CON. In addition to this, it also gets hill start assist, an anti-lock braking system, Electronic Brake Distribution, six airbags, emergency stop signal and multi-view camera in addition to standard vehicle stability assist.
