Encased in a compact yet athletic silhouette, the Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric epitomizes modern elegance and allure. Embracing Mercedes-Benz's fresh design ethos, it captivates with innovative star-themed LED taillights and a prominent grille adorned with a constellation of tri-pointed stars. Its sleek profile exudes sophistication, amplified by the coupe-like contours that underscore its sporty spirit.
The front fascia commands attention with an aggressively sculpted bumper, while a long, creased bonnet contributes to its sharp and dynamic presence, complemented by striking 18-inch alloy wheels. Seamlessly integrated headlights and refined flush door handles further elevate its premium stature. Interiors And Features
The CLA Electric's cabin blends futuristic design with practicality, offering a spacious feel despite its compact footprint. It features an all-glass roof, a flat floor for rear passengers, and a minimalist cockpit with ample storage. Standard equipment includes heated, power-adjustable front seats, four USB-C ports, automatic climate control, and a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster paired with a 14-inch touchscreen. The optional 'Superscreen' adds a second 14-inch display for the front passenger. Safety tech like adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and emergency braking comes standard across the range, making it a very well-equipped premium electric mover.
Battery And Range
The upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA EV will pack advanced 800-volt battery technology aimed at maximizing efficiency, offering fast charging up to 320 kW and a claimed WLTP range of up to 792 km. While India-specific details are yet to be disclosed, the global lineup includes two variants: the CLA 250+ with 272 PS and a 0100 km/h time of 6.7 seconds, and the more powerful CLA 350 4MATIC producing 354 PS, capable of sprinting from 0100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, both drawing power from an 85 kWh battery pack. As for the quick charge, the brand claims a top-up of 300+ kms on a charge of 10 minutes.
As for the pricing, it will depend on the kind of variant that hits Indian shores, but it is expected to cost somewhere around Rs 65-75 lakhs ex-showroom. For the rivals, it will take on the Kia EV6, BMW iX1, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and others.
Verdict
The CLA electric when launched, will shake up the premium EV market for sure as it's anticipated price point will dent a lot of other premium EVs that offer lesser one charge range.
