German luxury carmaker BMW has launched the i4 eDrive 40, the company's first four-door electric sedan in India. With this launch, BMW Group becomes the first automotive manufacturer to introduce the first electric mid-size sedan in the country. The BMW i4 can be booked online at BMW India's official website and the deliveries will start by the beginning of July 2022. The BMW i4 eDrive 40 is launched at a price of Rs 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will be brought to India via the CBU route.
Mineral White, Black Sapphire, and Skyscraper Grey are among the intriguing metallic paint colours offered for the electric car. Canberra Beige and Cognac colour palettes are available in perforated Sensatec upholstery.
BMW i4 Powertrain
The BMW i4 eDrive 40 comes with an 80.7kWh lithium-ion battery which is fixed on the floor. The electric sedan gets an electric motor on the back axle that produces 335.2 bhp of power and 430 Nm of peak torque, making it a rear-wheel-drive car. The BMW i4 eDrive 40 can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, according to BMW.
The lithium-ion battery with a high voltage provides a WLTP certified range of up to 590 kilometres. The batteries can be fully charged in 8.25 hours using an 11kW home charger, but they may be charged up to 200kW in 10 minutes, giving the eDrive40 a range of 164 kilometres.
The BMW i4 will come with a complimentary BMW Wallbox charger with installation as an introductory offer. It can be installed in your home to provide for safe and convenient charging up to 11kW.
BMW i4 eDrive 40: Design
The exterior design of the automobile is futuristic, it is the most aerodynamic electric vehicle in its class. The vehicle's, modern character is highlighted by the grey inlay in the front apron and vertical side apertures. The redesign of the radiator grille and the blue ring around the BMW emblem are absolute highlights. The electric sedan gets a flat, dramatically sculpted headlamps and Frozen Grey highlights.

At the rear, a strong vertical rear spoiler and recessed surfaces accentuate the car's aggressive and broad appearance. The BMW i4's thin curves and horizontal lines are highlighted by the compact L-shaped rear LED lights. The use of lightweight aerodynamic wheels helps to extend the driving range. Loading and unloading from the 470-litre baggage compartment is a breeze thanks to the wide tailgate with an automated opening mechanism. Furthermore, the rear bench seat folds down with a 40/20/40 split to maximise storage space and expand cargo capacity to 1290 litres.
BMW i4 eDrive 40: Interior Features
The interior features a driver-focused cockpit and a spacious atmosphere. The sedan is equipped with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which features a freestanding BMW Curved Display that connects a 12.3-inch digital information display behind the steering wheel to a 14.9-inch Control Display with Navigation. It also comes with a 17-speaker Harman Kardon Surround Sound System and BMW virtual assistant. Wireless charging, powered seats, automatic climate control, and other standard features are also included.
