The updated BMW F 900 XR sees quite some additions in its features list. Bookings for the sports tourer are open, and deliveries will start in June.
The F 900 XR was discontinued due to fuel emission norms. But now it has come back, cleaner and feature-heavy, as ever. Together with the F 900 XR, BMW Motorrad has also launched the BS-6 compliant F-850 GS and F-850 GS Adventure. However, the F 900 XR is the only one that sees an increase in its ex-showroom price. The Sports Tourer in its Pro variant now costs Rs. 80,000 more at Rs. 12,30.000 (ex-showroom Delhi), and it competes against the Multistrada 950 S. The latter costs Rs. 15,49,000.
The 2022 BMW F 900 XR is available in two variants. Theres the standard variant which starts from Rs. 10,50,000; and the XR Pro, which costs Rs, 12,30,000. The latter is more feature-loaded, which explains the extra price. Just like its naked roadster counterpart F 900 R, the F 900 XR is also powered by the same water-cooled 4-stroke in-line 2-cylinder engine. This unit produces 105 hp (77 kW)@ 8,500 RPM and a maximum torque of 92 Nm@ 6,500 RPM, mated to a 6-speed transmission. BMW claims that the F 900 XR can do 200 km/h of top speed, and take just 3.6 seconds to go from 0-to 100 km/h.

The bike is built around a bridge frame, where the engine acts as a load-bearing element while being nestled inside welded sheet steel parts. Suspension duties are handled by upside-down telescopic forks for the front wheels, and a rear pre-load and rebound adjustable mono-shock with a double-side swing arm. Braking duties are handled by a pair of 320-mm disc brakes at the front and a 265-mm disc brake at the rear.
Some of the standout features in the BMW F 900 XR include a 6.5-inch color TFT screen that gets BMW Motorrad Connectivity as standard. Aside from that, it also gets Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Automatic Stability Control (ASC), and Anti-Hopping Clutch (AHC), as standard in the base variant.
