This custom-made Royal Enfield Motorcycle from Indonesia gets some cool upgrades and the fully-adjustable air suspension is one of its eye-catching features.
Royal Enfields is one of the most popular brands worldwide, and their motorcycles are also customised the most. It is one such custom bike that has grabbed our attention. This beautiful rendition of the Royal Enfield Classic 500 was built by Bali-based Smoke Garage. It was commissioned by one of their loyal customers, Irul, who rolled in the brand new 500 cc Classic.
The SG Royal Black has a lot of mods going for it, starting with the overall design. As has been explained by Smoke Garage founder, Nicko Eigert, the bobber style was a fitting tribute to Royal Enfields military history. So it was clear from day one, that the bike needed to be low, slammed to the ground - and that would make the custom motorcycle look badass. Below we have jotted out a few of the standout mods that have gone behind this beauty.
Looks and Chassis
The SG Royal Black is based on the Royal Enfield Classic 500 so overall styling will remind you of that. There is a departure from the original, but its more of an evolution. For example, to accommodate the full use of the air suspension, SG had to modify the swingarm and the subframe. A big change up front is with the new set of machined triple trees that shift the forks out wider for the front wheel. The tires are now wrapped around new 16x15-inches black rims with beefy vintage rubber tyres.
Aside from that, the fuel cap is different with the initials RU-567 in the middle and the words Smoked Garage emblemed around. The overall paint scheme is in theme with Smoked Garage x Royal Enfield iconic colors, i.e. in black and red. The satin vibe on the SG Royal Black really brings out its tough build quality. Other modern elements include the LED headlights and a new sleek speedometer from Motogadget m.unit. There are three taillights also that are noticeable when illuminated. Besides, the seat is custom made trimmed in black leather, and the drag bar with the switches neatly tucked is cleanly laid out. Keeping the handlebar uncluttered was the first priority.
Engine Upgrades
Powering the SG Royal Black is the same 500 cc engine in the Royal Enfield Classic 500 that puts out 27.57 Ps and 41.3 Nm of torque. However, with the SG Black matters are a bit different with a custom header pipe for the single-cylinder engine. This allows SG Royal Black to bellow quite the loud exhaust note through its custom muffler.
Air Suspension
Now coming to the centrepiece is the air suspension. The primary function of it is to give a low slung back to look when parked, which will instantly catch the attention. The second is to give the desired ride height when riding over undulated surfaces. Both the subframe and the swingarm are modified to accommodate those suspensions. This also allowed more space for the converted wheels, which further contribute to its aesthetics when parked.
