There have been quite a few reports online, that confirm that Royal Enfield will launch the Himalayan with a 450cc engine. It will enjoy a premium tag over the current model, and tons of additional features and accessories.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan has been one of those multi-purpose motorcycles, in which customers feel at ease in both on-road and off-road situations. Its tall ground clearance, aided by long-travel suspension, and a larger 21-inch wheel at the front - make it a proper off-road-looking motorcycle. To cash in on the badges popularity, it has been reported that RE is developing a new Himalayan that will feature a 450 cc engine. The motorcycle company will also send the new Himalayan to the Dakar Rally (read below). Below here we have discussed some of the expected features and accessories that will be a part of the new motorcycle.

Starting with the brand new engine, it is expected to produce around 40 bhp and 45 Nm of torque (the exact figures are yet to be confirmed). It will be a long stroke motor, and it will come mated to a 6-speed transmission. With these specs, Royal Enfield is taking the competition directly to the KTM ADV 390, which produces 42.9 hp and 37 Nm of torque.
Look-wise, the new Himalayan will be better looking than its predecessors. The design has its fair share of ruggedness, and some elements further attribute to its road presence. This includes a larger 20-liter fuel tank, up-swept exhaust pipe, larger mudguards, and long-travel upside-down fork suspension.

The new Himalayan 450 will also get a ride-by-wire system, which means it should also get multi-drive models. The RE Himalayan will get 3 ride modes - road, rain, and off-road. This also means that the new Himalayan will get switchable ABS, for those rear wheel lock slides. The instrument cluster will also be a vertical unit, however, theres no confirmation if it will be a colored unit, like the one we see in the KTM 390. For touring purposes, the representative images showcase a luggage rack, this can hold larger tail bags, and boxes. RE is also expected to offer the Himalayan 450 with accessories like a heated grip, different handlebars, handguards, etc.
Royal Enfield will also further work on a Dakar Rally variant of the upcoming Himalayan 450. It will also be sold in the mass market, as a top-spec version of the same. Its launch is expected to take place around 2025-26, and it will feature several premium updates over the regular bike. This includes features like upgraded suspension, tubeless spoke wheels, powerful engine, and an auxiliary fuel tank as well.
