Force Gurkha 4X2: What To Expect?
The Force Gurkha SUV underwent recent updates, boasting a more potent engine, enhanced features, and the addition of a 5-door body style. Despite these advancements, it retains its status as a specialized off-roader with limited mainstream appeal. The introduction of a 4x2 variant for the 3-door Gurkha could broaden its market reach, catering to a wider audience seeking a more affordable option without the need for extensive 4x4 capabilities.
The Gurkha 4X2 will uphold the recent enhancements and features introduced in the latest model update. The fully digital instrument cluster, the updated infotainment system, TPMS, and all other features will be replicated with the new model as well. It will maintain its four-seater configuration with forward-facing rear seats, ensuring a comfortable ride for both urban commuters and adventure enthusiasts.
While Mahindra Thar RWD variants get tax benefits due to their engine displacement, the Gurkha 4X2 will not be a beneficiary of these respites. Why? It is because of its bigger 2.6-litre diesel engine that violates the threshold limit for tax cuts. And with that said, let's look at the powertrain that roars beyond the monetary benefits.

Force Gurkha 4X2 Engine Details
The upcoming Gurkha 4X2 is anticipated to feature the familiar 140 HP, 2.6-liter diesel engine present in the current model, coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Unlike its 4X4 counterpart, this variant will forego the manual transfer case and differential locks, offering a more budget-friendly choice for consumers.
The current Force Gurkha 3-door Gurkha commands a price tag of Rs. 16.75 lakhs (ex-showroom). It's projected that the 4ײ variant will be priced more competitively, likely around Rs. 15 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Verdict
Force Gurkha moniker is now making its place outside its niche circle and the brand does not want to leave any stone unturned. Venturing into the share of Mahindra Thar, the new 4X2 variant will prove to be a big boost in its overall sales, and most likely to ruffle some feathers of the reigning off-roader.
