Force Gurkha Ownership Review - All You Need To Know

Launched back in September 2021, Force Gurkha clearly seems to be one of the best off-roaders in the country right now. The closest rival to the mighty Mahindra Thar, Gurkha surely has its pros and cons. Even the owners of the SUV seems to think so. One such owner, Mr Indra Prasad who owns the Mahindra Thar CRDe and the new Gurkha, shares his experience. This article will be about the ownership review of the Force Gurkha.

The new Force Gurkha is powered by a four-cylinder, 2.6-litre, BS6 compliant diesel engine. This motor churns out 90 bhp with a maximum torque of 250 Nm. It is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and there isn't any automatic gearbox on offer.

Coming to this ownership review of the Force Gurkha, the owner describes it as the effortless off-roader money can buy in a budget. Coming from a Thar, his first observation was how silent the cabin is when you're cruising at highway speeds of 90-100 kmph. Again, the owner is comparing the cabin to his Mahindra Thar CRDe that gets a soft top.

The owner explained how easily the Gurkha climbs an uphill in 1st gear without any throttle input. This scenario was done in the 4x2 mode. However, the same 4x2 mode is not the right choice when you're reversing on an uphill. Indra had to engage the 4x4 low and that's how he reversed it up.

Similarly, with quick inputs on the throttle and climbing an uphill in the 2nd gear, he felt an irritating vibration in the seats. He said that this is felt only in the second gear. He also explains that he wished the Gurkha had a little bit more power than just 90 bhp. He said that overtaking other cars on the road can be a slight issue if one does not slot the right gear.

When asked how he felt the clutch of the new Gurkha then he seems to be pretty impressed by it. He also claimed that the clutch is lighter than the old Mahindra Thar CRDe. I guess driving the Force Gurkha in bumper to bumper traffic won't be an issue after all.

Indra being the good samaritan that he is also shared that the headlights, even if set at 3 (lowest), still points towards the oncoming traffic sharply. He turned off the headlights sometimes so that the oncoming traffic wasn't blinded by the sharp throw of it. There's a bit of a body roll in the Gurkha, but hey, it is a tall SUV. Expect some undulations here and there.

When asked if he has plans for modifying the Gurkha then he said, probably in the future but not immediately. He is happy with the stock version itself.
