Ford Everest (formerly known as the Endeavour) is all set to make its comeback in India and while everything is being chalked, the latest scoop suggests that the Indian-spec version could get the bigger 3.0L V6 diesel engine for the Indian market. If true, this could prove to be a game changer for the brand's revival, as it currently does not have any active model on sale in the country. Ford Everest 3.0L V6 Diesel Engine Likely For More Power

After all the things we know so far, a 3.0 V6 diesel under the hood would really give the upcoming Ford Everest some serious muscle, putting it right up there with the top players in the premium SUV game. That kind of power, combined with a smooth, refined engine, is bound to catch the eye of buyers looking for a powerful yet comfortable ride. Of course, a bigger engine usually means a bigger price tag, so I expect the Everest to be priced competitively with its main rival, the Toyota Fortuner. But keep in mind that the brand will be looking at importing the first few units from abroad and then proceeding to local assembly here in the country.

But fret not, for those who want the looks and muscle, but at a relatively lower cost, the 2.0L bi-turbo diesel engine will also be in play, which is locally manufactured at Ford's Sanand plant, currently for export purposes. Coming back to the 3.0L V6 guzzler, this engine is a proper powerhouse, promising a ton of torque and horsepower, but with a refined feel. We're talking 250 hp power and a massive 600Nm of torque. It uses a single, big variable nozzle turbo, dual overhead camshafts, and a fairly high compression ratio of 16:1. For extra strength and to make it last, it gets a forged-steel, fully counterweighted crankshaft. On top of this, some versions even have an engine block heater, so it can handle freezing temperatures without any trouble.

Features To Match Up The Hype

Because the first batch of these vehicles will be imported, they'll come with the same specs as the models sold overseas. Inside, you will find a dark-themed cabin dominated by a large, vertically oriented 12-inch infotainment screen. The top-of-the-line versions also boast a 12-inch fully digital instrument cluster, while lower trims get a slightly smaller 8-inch version. Tech features are a big focus, with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charging pad, a 360-degree camera system, automatic parking assist, an electronic parking brake, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), ventilated seats, and plenty more. The Everest definitely lives up to its reputation for a well-appointed and tech-heavy interior, taking a more rugged approach this time when compared to its last active model in India.

Verdict

The return of the Ford Everest to the Indian market is set to inject some much-needed excitement into a segment that's been relatively quiet for a while. With the buzz surrounding the Everest's comeback, it's highly likely that Toyota Fortuner sales will feel the impact. The anticipation for the return of this SUV rusn quite high, making it obvious that the competition will feel the heat.
