Honda CBR 1000RR-R Recalled In India Over Oil-Cooler Issue - Details

Honda CBR 1000RR-R has been recalled in India over a suspected oil-cooler-related issue. Read the details of the recall of Honda's flagship sports bike below.

It has not been a long time since the Honda CBR 1000RR-R received a humongous price reduction of Rs 10 Lakhs in India. The new news is that Honda has recalled the MY20 motorcycle batch sold in India over inappropriate heat insulation measures for the resin hose of the oil-cooler pipe unit.

Honda has recalled a total of 7 MY20 motorcycles, stating that the use of 1st gear for short distances can result in the melting of the surface of the hose pipe due to the improper heat insulation from the exhaust pipes. This further can lead to engine-oil leakage as well. This scenario can take place due to the prolonged heating of the hose pipe and hence developing cracks in the unit.

Honda has also stated that this leakage of oil can come in contact with the rear wheel of the motorcycle which may lead to loss of traction, disbalance of the rider and lead to a generation of more dangerous situations. Although, Honda also states that this would be the worst-case scenario and none of the existing users of the MY20 batch has reported any such issue till now.

The solution to this, as described by Honda, is the necessary replacement of the parts related to the heating problem. Good quality, heat-insulated parts have been ordered for the recalled bikes and this might take some time to reach and replace for the owners as per the company. Till then, Honda has educated the owners about the problem and has asked them to follow preventive measures until the replacements are completed.

Talking of this flagship super sports bike from Honda, the CBR 1000RR-R uses a 1000cc, inline-4 cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine which produces peak power of 214.5 hp and peak torque of 113 Nm. This power is at par with the segment which includes exotic rivals from Italian makers as well as other Japanese super sports bike manufacturers.

Before the price deduction, Honda was selling the CBR 1000 RR-R at a premium of Rs 32.68 lakhs ex-showroom. But, with the price slash of Rs 10 lakhs, it is now available to the fanatics at Rs 23.69 lakhs ex-showroom.
