Since the launch of Honda City 2023, the Japanese carmaker is gaining traction with its sedan. Now, the prices of the same have been revised from April 2023 by up to Rs. 49,800. This is in line with the industry's direction of movement, as almost all manufacturers revising their price lists. The reasons cited are regulatory amendments and rising inflation.

The V Manual variant emerged as the biggest gainer in this hike. It is now dearer by Rs.49,800 and retails at a new price tag of Rs. 12,3,000 ex-showroom. Interestingly, an entry-level variant, christened the SV Manual has been introduced. This gives the Honda City a starting price tag of Rs. 11,55,000 ex-showroom. The Hybrid version of this Honda sedan gets a new more economical variant, dubbed the V Hybrid Automatic. The existing ZX Hybrid model gets a jump of almost half a lakh to now cost Rs. 20,39,000 ex-showroom. The overall ex-showroom price after this revision comes out to be Rs.11,55,00 and tops out at Rs.20,39,000 for the Hybrid variant.
VERDICT- The diesel was axed with this new generation City and subsequently with the new Hyundai Verna 2023 as well. This now makes the mid-size sedans in the country, part their ways with diesel for good. Other rivals like the Volkswagen Virtus and the Skoda Slavia were launched in petrol only, while the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz kicked Diesel back in 2020 to go on with a petrol-only engine with mild hybrid technology.
