Hyundai Exter EX Variant
Priced at Rs 5.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the Exter's entry-level model has a more limited feature set. It lacks the H-shaped LED DRLs at the front in terms of its exterior. Instead of receiving the glossy paint finish found on the higher variants, the front radiator grille is painted in a matte shade. Halogen headlamps are standard on this version. It does, however, have a silver bumper garnish, much like the other models. It sports 14-inch steel-rimmed wheels, black door handles, black outside rearview mirrors (ORVM), and fender-mounted turn indicators on the sides. The rear gets a glossy black coating on the tailboard and H-shaped LED tail lamps at the back, but it does miss on the rear wiper and defogger.
Moving on to the interior, the Exter's base model has a steering wheel that is similar to those in higher-end models but does not have any controls built into it. This model does not have a music system and just has power windows for the front seats, manual adjustment for the ORVMS. The cooling system has a manual control. The instrument cluster is still a digital device just like the others. Along with a USB connector and a 12-volt charging port, it also has a type-C USB fast charging port in the centre console.
In terms of safety, this variant sets a new standard in its segment by offering six airbags, a noteworthy feature for a base variant. Additional safety features include ABS with EBD, optional ESC (Electronic Stability Control), optional hill assist control, optional vehicle stability management, rear parking sensors, central locking, and all five seats equipped with 3-point seatbelts, among various other features.

Hyundai Exter EX Variant Powertrain
This particular variant is available with a single powertrain which is a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine. This engine produces 83 bhp of power and 114 Nm of peak torque. Also, this variant comes with a 5-speed manual transmission only.
Verdict
The Hyundai Exter EX variant offers a competitive price point, but it falls short in terms of available features. While it includes a decent array of safety features, it lacks certain convenience features. This variant may be particularly suitable for taxi fleets and other commercial purposes. In the market, the Hyundai Exter competes with the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and Maruti Suzuki Fronx.
