Hyundai Motors recently launched the facelifted Hyundai i20 in the international markets. With a few changes here and there, this new model was set to make its Indian debut next. Now, the test mules of the same have been spotted testing on Indian soil. While we informed you about the regular i20 facelift getting tested, now its sportier version is caught on the roads.
Yes, the Hyundai i20 N-Line is gearing up for an Indian launch soon and it packs some differences when compared to the regular one. Read on to find out more.
Hyundai i20 N-Line Facelift Spotted Alongside Regular i20
The sportier test mule was spotted alongside the standard version. The distinction is the red strip running at the bottom of the doors. This indicates that the company intends to bring both facelifts around the same timeline. The regular i20 could be a lower variant as clear from the wheel caps whereas the N-Line gets alloys with what look like red calipers.

The changes on the outside are subtle and get little tweaks on the front and rear profiles. The changes are most probably the same as the ones registered with the global variant. Since the partly covered test mules are exposed from the sides, there isn't much change in there, which eliminates the need for a camo.
New Steering Wheels, Paddle Shifters, And More
In a bid to bring more updates, a new steering wheel and paddle shifters are visible in these test mules. What's more interesting is that paddle shifters are now, most likely, coming with the standard i20 for the first time as well. Until now, just the N-Line had the paddle shifters and the standard missed out on these. The N-Line will however enjoy distinctive elements in terms of red highlights on the outside, red stitching on the seats and steering wheels, different suspension tuning, and more.
No Change In Mechanicals
Since this is a mid-cycle facelift, the changes are subtle and just limited to majorly cosmetic ones. Under the hood, it continues with the same 1.0-liter turbo-petrol mill producing 118bhp and 172Nm of torque. Transmission options currently include an iMT unit and a 7-speed DCT unit.
In the premium hatchback segment, it squares off against the Maruti Baleno and the Tata Altoz, which is also the only diesel premium hatch left in the segment by Tata.
VERDICT- Since the updated Hyundai i20 is a mild facelift, it does not have a lot going for it. It gets a little tweak here and there. The headlights, front bumper, and taillights get a refreshed styling, although not very monumental. Meanwhile, if the paddle shifters come to the standard i20, it would be one, very neat upgrade.
