After the festive season, several car makers are increasing the price of their popular models. Carens from Kia is one example and it is now more expensive than before. The South Korean carmaker has hiked the prices of Carens by Rs 50,000 for some variants. In this article, we share with you the variant-wise pricing of the same.

It is the 1.5L Prestige model that gets the highest hike of Rs 50,000. In petrol form, Carens get two engines under the hood - 1.5L petrol and 1.4L turbo petrol. The former generates as much as 113 bhp of power with a peak torque of 144 Nm while the turbo petrol motor belts out a peak power and torque of 138 bhp and 242 Nm, respectively. Both the engine options get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard and the 1.4L turbo petrol gets a 7-speed DCT as an option.

The 1.5L diesel engine is a four-cylinder, turbocharged unit. It produces 113 bhp of power with a peak torque of 250 Nm. It gets mated to a six-speed stick shift as standard and a six-speed torque converter automatic transmission as an option.

Verdict
Kia Carens rivals Maruti Ertiga, XL6 and Mahindra Marazzo. The South Korean carmaker is also planning to bring the CNG version of the Carens. If that is in place then it can give tough competition to the already popular CNG MPVs, Maruti Ertiga CNG and XL6 CNG.
