If you are out to get your hands on a budget friendly MPV, you would have surely come across these names. XL6, being a cosmetically attractive sibling of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has become a choice for many and hits right into the spot of being a value for money MPV. However, you must have come across a new name by the Korean manufacturer, the Kia Carens. A stunning MPV which looks like a magnificent marvel of design and engineering in its flesh with plenty of first in segment features. In this comparison of Kia Carens Vs Maruti XL6, we compare its design, dimension, features, engine displacement and prices.
Kia Carens Vs Maruti Suzuki XL6: Prices
First thing first - the prices. Kia has revealed the Carens line up and we are surprised to see the MPV carrying a starting price of Rs 8.99 lakh only. Yes it is much cheaper than the XL6 which has a starting price of Rs 10.14 lakh. So yes, Kia has played well with the value card.
Kia Carens Vs Maruti Suzuki XL6: Exterior Looks & Dimensions
Kia Carens as a newly launched vehicle might not catch the eye because of its unconventional design, but do check it out in flesh! Having a low slung bonnet and bold shoulder lines along its sides, it provides a good stance on road with all the dimensions in decent proportions. It is equipped with all LED headlights, sporty tri-cubic fog lights and sporty DRLs which double up as the indicators. In the rear, the Carens features all LED tail lights with a long red glass strip extending all across the boot and significant wrap around chrome elements in the bumper which houses the rear reflectors. A roof mounted spoiler is also offered in the higher trims of the Carens. The wheel wells are filled up by 16 inch alloy wheels in the range topping variants. It is offered in eight different colour options from the factory.
Maruti Suzuki XL6 is native to us as it is a cosmetically jacked up version of the ongoing Ertiga. However, Maruti Suzuki has tried its best to make the product appeal to its buyers with a sense of aesthetic appeal. On the front, XL6 features all LED headlamps and fog lamps with chrome treatment on the front grill which extends to the DRls. The XL6 has front and rear skid plates which give it a rigged look when compared to the Maruti Suzuki Arena offering, the Ertiga. At the rear, it gets all LED tail lamps with the XL6. However, there is not much to say about the XL6 in terms of looks, as we are all well versed with the same. It is offered with 15v inch alloy wheels as standard with plastic cladding around the wheel wells. It is offered in six colours options from the factory.

Compared to the Kia Carens, the XL6 cabin is dark with no light colours used. However, this is a subjective opinion and dark interiors mights have their own set of advantages. The Maruti Suzuki XL6 looks more of a conventionally laid out dashboard and lacks the quirkiness in terms of styling. Summing it up, its plain and simple. The centre of the dashboard features a floating type infotainment system called as Maruti's Smartplay Studio. Being pitched as a premium six seater MPV retailed through the NEXA outlets of Maruti Suzuki, the XL6 is available only in a six seater configuration with captain seats and might not appeal to the ones who long for more seating capacity. They might have to step down to the Ertiga which features a bench seat for the middle row. On the whole, the XL6 turns out to be a decent package for its offerings.
