India is a welcoming country for new carmakers and Kia Motors is one such brand which has witnessed the same. They made their debut with the Seltos which threw Hyundai Creta from the top charts. Then came the Carnival, a luxurious MPV to target Innova Crysta buyers. And in August 2020, Kia will present us with the Sonet, a compact SUV with a large number of features.
Kia plans to bring in the Utility Vehicles first with features loaded up to the brim and Sonet is no exception. And once launched, it will very well target with the compact SUVs running in the Indian market and one such SUV we have picked is the Tata Nexon.
Turbo Petrol Engine With 7-Speed DCT
Knowing the fact that Sonet shares its platform and engine options with the Venue, it is safe to say that Kia will bring in the turbo petrol engine here. The 998cc turbo petrol churns out 120 bhp with 172 Nm of peak torque. And transmission includes a 7-speed DCT as an option and a 6-speed manual as standard. Please note, Nexon also comes with turbo petrol but it gets an AMT gearbox.
Along with the automatic, manual owners will have a surprise too as it comes with iMT (Intelligent Manual Transmission). This gearbox comes with auto revving function which makes manual driving easy as the driver doesn't have to use the clutch as often.
Larger Touchscreen System
Even the entry-level cars get equipped with a decent size touchscreen and Kia Sonet will receive a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen unit. It will get connectivity features like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Tata Nexon is equipped with a smaller 7.0-inch touchscreen unit.
UVO Connected Car Technology
Like the Seltos, the Sonet too will receive its signature UVO connect technology which hosts more than 30+ features. These can be connected through your smartphone and via voice command. One can open the sunroof, remote start/stop your car, turn the AC and more. Also, one can track their car using the geo-fence feature.
Automatic Air Purifier
The rising pollution levels are a nightmare for some who have asthma or breathing problems. And an automatic air purifier will do the job. Even when you don't have breathing problems, at least the air inside the cabin will be pure so you breathe in a fresh one.
Six Airbags
Kia Sonet will continue to offer dual airbags as standard for lower trims and higher variants will get six airbags. On the other hand, even the top trims of Tata Nexon gets equipped with dual airbags only.
