Mahindra-Volkswagen Agreement For Sharing EV Components
The agreement entails Volkswagen supplying crucial electric components and their groundbreaking unified battery cells for Mahindra's purpose-built INGLO electric platform. This deepens their existing partnership, solidifying their commitment to e-mobility in India. Mahindra becomes the first external company to utilize the unified cell concept, highlighting the potential and shared vision between the two giants. The supply agreement will run over several years and will have a total volume of about 50 GWh over a lifetime.
The MEB, a versatile vehicle platform designed specifically for electric vehicles, is utilized not only by Volkswagen but also by Audi and Skoda to develop their electric cars. Mahindra plans to debut five all-electric SUVs in India, starting from December 2024, based on its new INGLO platform. These SUVs will be introduced under two sub-brands, namely XUV and BE.
Mahindra's INGLO-Platform
The INGLO (IN representing India and GLO representing Global) platform is designed to be scalable, catering to a range of vehicle models across different sizes and segments, spanning from approximately 4.3 meters to 5 meters in length. This platform supports two battery pack options: 60 kWh and 80 kWh, each utilizing distinct cell architectures 'Prismatic' for the smaller battery pack and 'Blade' for the larger one.

Mahindra And Volkswagen: Future EV Plans
Presently, Mahindra offers the XUV400 EV in India, while its inaugural electric vehicle derived from the INGLO platform is scheduled for release in early 2025. Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Group plans to debut the Skoda Enyaq EV in India later this year.
