Maruti Ciaz, a C-segment sedan that was once one of the most desirable cars on Indian roads, has sadly turned into a ghost, as you can hardly see any newly purchased Ciaz on the roads. This is because C-segment sedans have become a dying breed, with the subcompact SUVs dominating the Indian automotive industry.
However, it is still on sale, and without making any noise, the automaker has discontinued its two premium variants, Zeta and Alpha. Now, the only available options are Sigma and Delta. This isn't shocking, but it does send a signal. Let's understand this news better, and before that, make sure to join the 91Wheels Whatsapp Channel to never miss out on automotive updates.

Maruti Ciaz

The Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is now available with just three variant options - Sigma, Delta, and Delta AT. This also means that the Ciaz won't get some high-end features that were reserved for the top trims, such as LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs, an infotainment screen, and a rear sunshade. To add to this, it might be a signal from Maruti Suzuki that they will slowly phase out the Ciaz and, in some time, discontinue it. With sales lower than 1,000 units per month and the sedan market going into oblivion, there is no point in continuing to sell this vehicle now.

The Ciaz is powered by a 1.5L NA K-Series engine that makes 104 ps and 138 Nm of torque. This engine is also found in the Maruti Brezza, Grand Vitara, and Jimny. Additionally, it gets assistance from a mild hybrid system. Now, the Ciaz is available in just three variant options, and thankfully, they have kept an automatic option for those who prefer to travel with even more comfort. However, don't expect any performance from it, as it is only a 4-speed automatic.
For the brand, it might attract a few customers, as for just Rs 11 lakh, they're getting a 4,490 mm length sedan that offers a tremendous amount of comfort along with a staggering fuel economy of 20+ km/l. To add to this, its competitors are way ahead of it in terms of features and performance, so its lower price will work in its favor and act as a differentiator.
Verdict
The Maruti Ciaz is most likely to be discontinued this year or next, as its sales are exceptionally poor compared to other Maruti cars, and it has received no updates since 2018. Additionally, the segment in which it competes is seeing the lowest sales figures, as the sub-4 meter SUV segment offers some of the best overall cars. So, if you are a fan of the Ciaz, you should consider buying it this season.
