Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Bharat NCAP
This hybrid SUV is a brainchild of Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, and together they sell it under two different names: the Grand Vitara and the Urban Cruiser Hyryder. Both have enjoyed significant success as per sales numbers and come with a plethora of safety features. However, none of them were scrutinized for safety until now. Maruti has taken the first step by sending it to one of the strictest car assessment programs, Bharat NCAP.
The photos reveal the frontal and side crash tests, and one can easily see that the car absorbs the impact quite firmly. From the front, the bonnet remains unhinged, while the bumper absorb the impact. Even from the side, it doesn't appear significantly deteriorated. Yes, the doors take the impact and are severely damaged, but the overall position of the car remains intact.
If the official report confirms a 5-star rating, it will boost the confidence of buyers interested in purchasing the Grand Vitara. Additionally, the car is equipped with several safety features, including 6 airbags as standard, ABS with EBD and brake assist, ESP, hill hold assist, hill descent control, a 360-degree view camera, and more.
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Rivals
This falls under the premium compact SUV bracket, which is the hottest segment in the country. Every automaker wants to sell cars in this category, and whoever does, substantial success is guaranteed. The Grand Vitara competes with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Honda Elevate, and Volkswagen Taigun.
Apart from the VW Taigun, none of these vehicles have a 5-star rating in their report cards or have undergone Bharat NCAP testing. If the Grand Vitara passes this test with flying colors, it could become the number one choice of SUV lovers. Will this translate to more sales? Yes. Will it steal the Creta's crown? Maybe.
