HMSI (Honda Motorcycles Scooters India Limited) remains the undisputed leader when it comes to scooters in India. However, their line up does not offer sporty or long distance scooter options - this is something we have seen from Yamaha (Aerox) and Aprilia (SXR 160) in the past. However, as Honda sells the ADV 160 internationally, there could be a possibility of this Maxi Scooter coming to India soon. The Marvel editions of the same scooter were recently showcased at the Bangkok International Motor Show.
The new variants, as seen here, are dressed up in Marvel-inspired Ironman and Captain America liveries. Both these fiction characters are extremely popular with the younger generation and so is the Honda ADV 160 maxi scooter. As seen in the images here, the Ironman edition ADV 160 comes with a red paint scheme along with golden colour accents around the panels. The Captain America ADV 160 on the other hand gets blue with white and red accents. Do note, the livery you see on the maxi scooters is identical to the comic characters we see in movies.
As expected, mechanically the Honda ADV 160 scooters remain unchanged. This means the ADV 160 Marvel editions get the same 156.9cc engine belting out 15.8 bhp of power and 14.7 Nm of torque. The ADV 160 is a big scooter visually and tips the scales at 133 kgs. With tall wheels at both the ends, this scooter seems ready for long distance touring. A long and wide seat along with a tall windscreen surely come in handy during non-stop stints on open roads. ABS and digital speedometer console come in as standard fitments. If you look closely, you can also see the gas reservoirs for the shock absorbers at the rear.
The Honda ADV 160 seems apt to take on the Yamaha Aerox and Aprilia SXR 160 in India. But will the Japanese giant take this initiative? Our fingers are crossed!
