The MG Comet Blackstorm has arrived, with prices start from Rs 7.80 lakh (ex-showroom). This becomes the fourth car in MG Motor India's lineup after the Gloster, Hector, and the Astor to be offered in a dark edition variant. While it receives cosmetic and interior enhancements, it remains mechanically identical to the standard Comet.

MG Comet Blackstorm Launched; Details

The Comet Blackstorm retains the quirky, diminutive shape of the regular car, but this variant gets an exclusive Starry Night paint scheme with red inserts around the fog lamps, front bumper, doors, and the plastic wheel covers. The Morris Garages badging on the hood is also finished in red.

On the inside, the seats receive black leatherette upholstery with red Blackstorm badging on the front headrests, along with a mix of white and beige elsewhere on the interiors. In terms of features, the Comet Blackstorm also gains a 4-speaker sound system over the regular car's 2-speaker system. Other things include a 10.25-inch blended screen setup with wireless smartphone connectivity, keyless system, connected features, and a reverse parking camera among other things.

The Comet Blackstorm continues with the rear-wheel drive motor setup producing 41.4bhp and 110Nm of torque. Backed by a 17.3kWh battery pack, the Comet claims to cover 230km on a single charge, taking a claimed time of 3.5 hours via a 7.4kW AC charger. Additionally, a 3.3kW charger will take a claimed time of 7 hours.
Verdict
The Comet Blackstorm should possibly garner attention from those looking to buy a small city car, but with the added cosmetic enhancements. While it is also available with the BaAS scheme, prices for that have not been listed yet.
