This popular subcompact SUV continues to deliver exceptional value, and the arrival of the Kia Sonet HTE(O) and HTK(O) variants makes features like a sunroof more accessible to budget-minded buyers. Let's look at what the entry-level HTE(O) variant has to offer, but before that, make sure to join our 91Wheels WhatsApp Group community of petrolheads to never miss out on any updates from the automotive world.

The HTE (O) variant of the Kia Sonet prioritizes essential features, forgoing some of the frills found on higher trims. Halogen headlights replace the LED units, while the redesigned grille from the facelift graces the front fascia, albeit in a standard finish rather than piano black. A silver skid plate completes the look, adding a touch of ruggedness but keeps the essence of the Sonet alive. This is in no way lacking in looks, despite missing out on some bling elements.
The rear profile is the same as every other trim with halogen tail lamps along with silver-finished skid plates. While it gets a connected tail lamp design, it does not illuminate as the one on the higher variants does. However, during the day, you wouldn't guess this at all. Plus, you can see the steel wheels on this variant with caps.
Interior And Features
The interior of the Kia Sonet HTE (O) trim is subtle with an all-black interior with silver inserts throughout the cabin. You can also notice that the automatic AC controls are replaced by knobs for manual control.
The HTE(O) offers an attractive entry point to the Sonet with a sunroof, making it the most affordable Kia Sonet with this desirable feature. While it offers the essential functions, this is simply a bumped-up base variant. You get manual air conditioning, front power windows, and central locking to ensure convenience. Essential features like rear AC vents, USB Type-C charging for rear passengers, and a 12V power socket are all present.
Safety is well-addressed with six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, and a tire pressure monitoring system. In short, the HTE(O) delivers practicality and peace of mind at a compelling price point. If you find this list to be just functional, you have to go for higher trims and you will find a lot of modern features for added luxury.

Kia Sonet HTE (O) Engine Options
The Kia Sonet HTE(O) caters to a range of driving preferences with two engine choices. Opt for the 1.2-liter naturally aspirated engine, offering 82hp and 115 Nm of torque, paired with a smooth-shifting 5-speed manual transmission. For those seeking more pulling power, the familiar 1.5-liter diesel engine delivers 116hp and 250 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.
This particular variant is priced at Rs. 8.19 lakhs ex-showroom with arch rivals like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnite, and more.
Verdict
The Kia Sonet now offers sunroof with the base variant HTE. While the optional only adds a sunroof and a sunglasses holder, it only commands a Rs. 20,000 premium. While this may not be much, but it has done something remarkeable. Aspirations for a sunroof is no longer limited to the higher-spec trims, waiting for you to shell out a large chunk of money.
