Next-Gen KTM 390 Duke Launch Time & Changes
The upcoming Duke is almost production-ready. In fact, it was recently spied on at a dealership yard in the final showroom-ready condition. It is suspected to get some radical changes to its design as well as mechanicals. The body panels on it including the fuel tank extensions and the headlight cowl will grow sharper. Also, the fuel tank will be reshaped to accommodate a more relaxed riding posture. KTM has also redesigned the swingarm of the bike with a new offset mono-shock rear suspension. The alloy wheels and brakes shall be carried forward from the current RC 390.
Now, the biggest change that is expected, will be a new bigger engine. It'll probably get a 399cc single-cylinder engine. This liquid-cooled unit is expected to make more power; maybe upwards of 45 bhp. Also, the peak torque will increase along with it. KTM will also use a new TFT colour display with redesigned layout. We also anticipate that the next-gen Duke will get loads of connected features like phone connectivity, navigation, etc. KTM is eyeing to debut the new Duke at the EICMA 2023 in November. It'll be a global debut and only after that KTM will debut it in India. Hence, it is very much possible that the new Duke will be launched by early 2024 in India.
Verdict
With the new 390 Duke, KTM will redefine the segment with a new performance & value for money proposition. Also, this new engine will be shared with the upcoming Husqvarna Svartpilen 401. Due to the addition of the latest tech and a bigger engine, we expect that its pricing will plunge north of Rs 3 lakh. Its direct rival is BMW G 310 R & the upcoming Bajaj-Triumph Scrambler.
