Ola Electric has pushed back the Ola Electric Second Online Purchase Window for sale of S1 and S1 Pro Scooters again and will reopen in late January 2022.
Ola Electric has postponed the delivery of the S1 and S1 Pro scooters before as well, due to the global chip shortage. Now, they have been compelled to delay the second online purchase window as well, which was previously rescheduled from November 1 to December. People waiting to purchase the new S1 and S1 Pro will have to wait until late January 2022, for bookings will reopen then.
Ola Electric has not confirmed the exact date as of yet. The electric-scooter manufacturer is currently focusing on delivering the scooters to existing customers and conducting test rides across 1,000 cities. Without giving an exact date, the broader time frame further indicates that this may also be subjected to further delays, if not preponed.

This delay is for the next batch of customers, who can now only book the scooter for a token amount of Rs. 499. They will not be able to make the initial downpayment of Rs. 20,000 as well, since Ola Electric will not be able to commit so. An e-mail regarding the same has been forwarded to prospective customers, they confirmed.
The manufacturer further clarified that the chip shortage did delay the delivery of their first lot and that in turn has acted as a sort of domino effect. After announcing a 2-day sale in September, Ola Electric witnessed sales worth Rs. 1,100 crore, which was a record for the company. However, due to different snags, its delivery and purchase schedule got affected.

The initial plan to start delivery in October got delayed. Currently, Ola has scheduled the delivery of the first batch of scooters from December,15. Once the delivery for the first batch commences, the purchase window for the second lot will also begin. The first batch of customers have already test drove the scooters in the first half of November and are now waiting for delivery in the second half of December.
