Suzuki Gixxer SF 250, Gixxer 250, And V-Strom SX: What Engine Faults Triggered The Recall?
The issue lies within the camshafts of the engines. Camshafts are crucial parts of car engines, controlling when valves open and close. Picture it like this: as the camshaft spins, it pushes the valves to let in air and fuel and then expels exhaust gases.
Now, these three bikes all use the same type of engine: a 249cc, oil-cooled, single-cylinder one. The problem? There's abnormal wear on the exhaust cam lobe. This lobe is a specific part of the camshaft that helps with how exhaust is released.
What's causing this abnormal wear? It seems like some parts in a batch of engines weren't treated with enough heat during production. Because of this, bikes with these engines might suddenly stall or make weird noises.

How Has The Recall Been Handled?
Suzuki dealerships are currently pinpointing which engines are affected and reaching out to the owners of the Suzuki Gixxer 250, Gixxer SF 250, And V-Strom SX Model. They'll replace the problematic part at their authorized service centres at no cost.
This marks the second time the Gixxer 250 and Gixxer 250 SF models have been recalled. The previous instance was in 2021 when Suzuki recalled 199 units due to excessive engine vibrations.
Verdict
Suzuki's proactive approach in addressing the engine camshaft issue with a recall and free replacement underscores their responsibility towards customer safety and satisfaction, but repeated recalls may impact consumer trust in the brand's quality assurance processes.
