River Indie Update; What Has Changed?
When it was first launched, the River Indie featured a belt-drive mid-mounted electric motor. While the motor has been retained, the belt-drive has now been replaced by a chain-driven system. However, the specifications remain unchanged, with the motor producing peak outputs of 8.9bhp and 26Nm of torque, while reaching a top speed of 90kmph, which is the same as before.
The Indie now also comes in two new paint schemes; Winter White, and Storm Grey, in addition to the existing colour options, which are Monsoon Blue, Summer Red, and Spring Yellow.
River Indie Other Details
The Indie carries on with the same 4kWh battery pack, which can be charged from 0-80% in a claimed time of 5 hours, via a 750W charger. River says that fast charging is also supported. All of this gives the Indie an IDC claimed range of 161km on a single charge. It also continues to feature 14-inch wheels and disc brakes on both ends.
The Indie also carries over an LCD instrument cluster, three ride modes, 43 litres of under-seat storage, a 12-litre lockable glovebox, pannier rails, front footrests, and other accessories such as a footwell cage and storage boxes.
The Indie also focuses on being comfortable and accessible for most riders, with a wide seat, a seat height of 770mm, a 20-inch floorboard, a ground clearance of 168mm, and a water wading ability of 300mm.

Verdict
River knows how to keep its products fresh and relevant, and with the latest update, prices of the Indie have gone up by a fair bit. This may be difficult to digest, given that there are no connected features to speak of, and River's service network remains sparse for now. However, the Indie remains a capable and comfortable scooter otherwise.
