Komaki Ranger; Details
The Komaki Ranger electric cruiser is available in two variants; the base variant, priced at Rs 1.39 lakh, and the Fully-Loaded variant which can be had from Rs 1.49 lakh onwards (all prices ex-showroom). It is powered by a hub-mounted motor that produces 6.7bhp, pushing it to a top speed of 80kmph.
Packing in a 4.32kWh battery pack, the Ranger comes with a claimed range of 200 to 250km on a single charge, and it can be charged from 0 to 90% in a claimed time of 4 hours. The battery and the motor come with a 3 year/30,000km warranty, and the charger comes with a 1 year warranty.

In terms of styling, the Ranger comes with a familiar, typical cruiser design, featuring a swept-up handlebar, a winsdcreen, a teardrop-shaped tank panel, a triple headlamp setup, twin saddlebags, a low seat for the rider, and a backrest for the pillion. The battery pack sits in the middle, where the engine usually would be on a conventional petrol bike.
In terms of features, the Ranger comes with a 7-inch TFT screen with bluetooth connectivity, and some other things also include music streaming, call/SMS alerts, cruise control, twin storage boxes, and twin sound pipes with a flaming effect among other things.
Verdict
The Komaki Ranger may appeal to those who want a cruiser but without the smoking combustion engine guts of a petrol motorcycle. However, the brand has a limited reach at the moment, and electric motorcycles as a segment is still at a growing stage.
